Khan needs to face his demons by trying to avenge his loss to Prescott

Image: Khan needs to face his demons by trying to avenge his loss to PrescottBy Scott Gilfoid: It’s been two years now since Amir Khan was blasted apart by the hard hitting Colombian Breidis Prescott in one brutal round in 2008. Prescott beat Khan like an old shoe. It wasn’t even a fight for more than a few seconds before Prescott had Khan on spaghetti legs after hitting him with a hard jab to the head. It wasn’t much of a punch but it didn’t needed to be, because Khan’s chin failed him. Prescott then quickly dispatched Khan with some tremendous hooks to the head that left Khan flat on his back on the canvas counting stars.

Will Khan still be considered a great fighter if Bradley knocks him cold?

Image: Will Khan still be considered a great fighter if Bradley knocks him cold?By Scott Gilfoid: It’s amusing that Amir Khan’s boxing fans are already calling him a great fighter even though he almost got spanked in his last fight against Marcos Maidana and barely got out of the fight without getting knocked out. Thus far, I fail to see anything remotely great about Khan. I don’t even see the hint of greatness. I just see some skinny guy with fast hands that runs around the ring and every once in awhile flicks out a three to four weak punches that mostly miss before he starts running again.

Bradley is willing to fight Khan in the UK

Image: Bradley is willing to fight Khan in the UKBy William Mackay: WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (26-0, 11 KO’s) is willing to travel all the way to the UK to fight World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) if need be to make the fight happen. Hopefully, it won’t come to that to get a fight against Khan, because, after all, Khan said he had moved his operations to the United States because he wanted to make it big over there. How is he ever going to be a big star in the U.S market if he keeps going back to the UK to fight all the time?

Amir Khan’s lack of defensive technique needs fixing

Image: Amir Khan’s lack of defensive technique needs fixingBy Norman Marshall: World Boxing Association (WBA ) light welter weight champion Amir Khan deserves praise for the way he withstood the constant pressing and attacking of Marcos Maidana. Khan showed heart and ability to tough it out when he had to.

The problem though, is that although Maidana was tough and strong, his attacks lacked guile and were rarely set up in combinations. At times Amir looked flustered and pressured. I believe the reason for this is that Amir has a gap in his repertoire.

Maidana exposed Khan’s lack of an inside game

Image: Maidana exposed Khan's lack of an inside gameBy Dan Ambrose: WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (24-1, 17 KO’s) has some fatal flaws with his game that are going to get him in deep trouble in the near future when he’s finished cherry picking his next opponent. Khan has committed himself to facing the winner of the Devon Alexander vs. Timothy Bradley fight, and those are two fighters that Khan doesn’t have the skills to beat. Khan was exposed badly by his last opponent Marcos Maidana, who showed again and again that Khan has no inside game.

Fighter of the year 2010 – Sergio Martinez

Image: Fighter of the year 2010 - Sergio Martinezby Mohammed Nasir: The award for fighter of the year is almost as prestigious as becoming a world champion and a good, albeit not perfect, method of distinguishing good fighters from the greats. The tail end of 2009 saw everybody biting at the chomp for Mayweather v Pacquiao and while it is disappointing that the fight never materialized it has left the gate wide open for a more deserving fighter to scoop the award for 2010. My personal nominations for fighter of the year 2010 are as follows.

Mayweather Sr. says Khan looked horrible in Maidana fight

Image: Mayweather Sr. says Khan looked horrible in Maidana fightBy William Mackay: Trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. wasn’t in the least impressed with WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan’s victory over Marcos Maidana on December 11th at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather Sr., the father of Floyd Mayweather Jr., thought that Khan fought a poor fight and should consider himself lucky that the fight wasn’t 15 rounds instead of only 12. Khan barely survived the last three rounds of the bout, taking one big shot after another while holding onto one of Maidana’s arms much of the time but not losing points from the referee for the constant holding.
