By Jim Dower: EBU heavyweight champion Alexander Dimitrenko (30-1, 20 KO’s) has an important fight on Saturday against Polish heavyweight Alberto Sosnowski (46-3-1, 28 KO’s) at the Sport and Congress Center, Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Besides this being a defense of his European Boxing Union title, it could lead to a fight against one of the Klitschko brothers for Dimitrenko should he win. He’s got a lot riding on this fight and he can’t afford another slip up like the one he suffered in his 12 round majority decision loss to Eddie Chambers last year in July.

Murray stops Kudryavtsev in nine, but fails to impress
By Sean McDaniel: Undefeated European Boxing Union lightweight champion John Murray (30-0, 18 KO’s) continued his unbeaten streak with an impressive 9th round stoppage win over his 2nd tier opponent Ukrainian Andriy Kudryavtsev (34-8, 15 KO’s) on Saturday night at the Robin Park Centre, Wigan, Lancashire. Murray, 25, had his way through most of the fight, with the exception of the 5th, 6th and 7th rounds, where Murray appeared to tire somewhat and take shots. In the 8th round, Kudryavtsev suddenly ran out of gas and was hammered for the entire round while periodically getting trapped on the ropes.
Did Vitali Klitschko hurt his popularity with the Sosnowski mismatch?
Photo credit: Sumio Yamada – By Dan Ambrose: World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KO’s) didn’t have to fight Alberto Sosnowski (45-3-2, 27 KO’s) last Saturday night. Klitschko could have selected a more dangerous and qualified opponent like Odlanier Solis. Instead, Klitschko chose number #11 ranked Sosnowski to fight in front of a large German crowd at the Veltins Arena, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
Vitali Klitschko did what he had to do to stop Sosnowski
Photo credit: Pavel Terekhov – By Jason Kim: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KO’s) did what he had to do to take out the younger 31-year-old Alberto Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KO’s) in a 10th round TKO on Saturday night at the Veltins Arena, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. The fight wasn’t in the least bit competitive because of the difference in size, skill and experience between the two fighters.
Did Vitali look bad enough for Haye to want to fight him?
Photo credit: Pavel Terekhov – By Chris Williams: In the past couple of years, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KO’s) has looked exceptional in running over all that has been put in front of him. Klitschko has all five fights since staging a comeback against then WBC heavyweight champion Samuel Peter in October 2008. Since then, only one of Vitali’s opponents has, Kevin Johnson, has escaped from being knocked out. And the only reason Johnson didn’t get taken out was because he fought a purely safety first fight bent on survival and not looking to actually win the fight.
Would Vitali Klitschko have knocked Haye cold with some of the shots he landed on Sosnowski?
By William Mackay: I just finished watching WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko’s 10th round TKO destruction of his hard-hitting challenger Alberto Sosnowski (45-3-1, 27 KO’s) and I’m pretty convinced that Vitali would have knocked WBA heavyweight champion David Haye cold with some of the punches that Vitali landed on Sosnowski on Saturday night at the Veltins Arena, in Gelsengirchen, Germany.
Vitali Klitschko wants Chagaev and Haye after defeating Sosnowski
Photo credit: Pavel Terekhov – By Eric Thomas: Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KO’s) took out Alberto Sosnowski (45-3-1, 27 KO’s) tonight to capture his 40th victory and move forward hopefully with a big mega fight against either WBA heavyweight champion David Haye or a fight against Ruslan Chagaev. The options, unfortunately, aren’t unlimited for the 38-year-old Vitali Klitschko or his brother IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko. Vitali, 6’7”, had a five inch height advantage and a 25 pound weight advantage over the 6’2” 224 pound Sosnowski. In the end, Vitali’s superior size was just too much for Sosnowski to overcome.
Klitschko slaughters Sosnowski, says he wants Haye now
Photo credit: Pavel Terekhov – By Scott Gilfoid: Fighting in front of 60,000 mostly Klitschko fans, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KO’s) destroyed challenger Alberto Sosnowski (45-3-1, 27 KO’s) in a 10th round TKO on Saturday night at the Veltins Arena, in Gelsenkirchen, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Germany. I couldn’t in my right mind give Sosnowski one round of the fight – that’s how bad he looked. Vitali put an end to the slaughter in the 10th round after depositing the 31-year-old Sosnowski on the canvas after hitting him with a hard right hand. The fight was stopped at 2:20 of the round and Vitali had yet another easy title defense.
Vitali Klitschko very impressive in stopping Sosnowski in 10th
Photo credit: Pavel Terekhov – By Jason Kim: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (40-2, 38 KO’s) toyed with challenger Alberto Sosnowski (45-3-1, 27 KO’s) for eight rounds before getting serious in the 9th round and badly hurting Sosnowski with several hard right hands at the end of the round. In the 10th, Klitschko continued to tee off on a tired and hurt Sosnowski, hurting him with a series of right hands, driving him to the corner and then chopping him down with a heavy right hand. Referee Jay Nady stopped the bout at 2:20 of the 10th without even looking back at Sosnowski to see if he was going to get up. He wasn’t. Sosnowski was badly hurt in a heap in the corner after feeling the power from Vitali’s right hands.
Klitschko TKO’s Sosnowski in 10th round!
By Chris Williams: World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (39-2, 37 KOs) stopped Polish challenger Albert Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KOs) in the 10th round on Saturday night at the Veltins Arena, in Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Klitschko, 38, fought at a leisurely pace, jabbing, faking and keeping the smaller, very limited Sosnowski on the outside for most of the bout.
