Banks vs Mitchell, Bika vs Periban on Broner-Malinaggi undercard

banks4By Thomas Cowan: This Saturday, Seth Mitchell faces fellow American heavyweight Johnathon Banks in New York on the Adrien Broner vs Paulie Malinaggi undercard. These two faced each other in Atlantic City in 2012, where heavy favourite Mitchell was blown out in two rounds by Banks. There’s been a lot of hype in the last year about the “new breed” of heavyweights but the hype has been dying down recently.

Mitchell was destroyed by Banks, Deontay Wilder still isn’t fighting anyone remotely good and across the pond David Price was shocked by aging Tony Thompson, while Tyson Fury looked awful against Steve Cunningham. I really can’t see any of these four putting up any kind of fight against a Klitschko brother and I even have serious doubts over whether any of them could last 5 rounds with David Haye.

Broner: I don’t want to hand Mayweather a loss

002 Broner IMG_0307(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Allan Fox: WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) has thus far been resistant to a fight against his friend and idol Floyd Mayweather Jr. despite many members in the media asking Broner to step up and face Floyd before he retires from the sport.

Broner says he won’t do because he wants Floyd to retire undefeated. However, Broner did give a hint in how he thinks he would do against Mayweather in fight when answering a question recently.

Broner said to Michael Woods at ESPN “My big brother got his legacy, I got mine. I want to see him retire undefeated. I don’t want to hand him a loss.”

Broner-Malignaggi: War inside and outside the ring

broner58By Hayesa Styles make fights, any Boxing fan knows that, but what happens when both men have a flash, fast, no will to back down attitude? well on the 22nd June we will have the answer to that exact question when Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) takes on unbeaten Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s).

Already this is shaping up to be a great fight but much of that is partially due to the war of words being exchanged out the ring. As soon as the fight was announced both men have done nothing but have a verbal onslaught at each other, and neither man looks like they are going to back down.

Marcos Maidana vs. Adrien Broner: An intriguing and likely matchup in the future

maidana564By Dallas Orysiuk It has been almost two weeks since boxing fans witnessed a thriller, a candidate for fight of the year (FOTY)… they witnessed Marcos Maidana vs. Josesisto Lopez. Going into the match-up, everyone knew it was going to be exciting and for as long as this war lasted, it lived up to the expectations.

This weekend we have another interesting matchup to look forward to, Adrien Broner vs. Paulie Malignaggi. Do not expect the same exciting fight as Maidana vs. Lopez, but this matchup has implications that can lead to some exciting matchups in the future. Broner moves up two weight divisions to challenge Paulie Malignaggi for his WBA welterweight strap.

Malignaggi – Broner Preview

malignaggi34332By Lee Shaw: This Saturday evening June 22nd, WBA World Welterweight champion Paulie ‘Magic Man’ Malignaggi (32-4-0 (7 KO) looks to make his second defence of his title against the highly regarded, predicted future star Adrien ‘The Problem’ Broner (26-0-0 (22 KO) at the Barclays Center, Brooklyn.

The challenger, Broner comes to Brooklyn as an unbeaten fighter who is full of confidence and expecting to head back to Cincinnati as the new welterweight champion of the world. Few people would disagree with Broner having seen him destroy all of his opposition to date in his 26 fight career but is Broner overlooking the talent of the ‘Magic Man’ in his search for future stardom.

Is the boxing world ready for Broner to take over for Mayweather?

broner57By Allan Fox: Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) believes that he’s the man that will be taking over for Floyd Mayweather Jr. when the 36-year-old Mayweather retires from boxing when finishing the remaining 5 fights on his 6-fight contract with Showtime/CBS.

Broner’s promoters have put him in position to take over for Mayweather by matching him against a number of fighters to inflate his resume with victories, and on Saturday night they’re matching him against the perceived weakest of the 147 lb. champions in Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

They’ve set Broner up with the perfect opponent for him to shine against, just like they did in Broner’s last fight against Gavin Rees last February. The idea here is for Broner to look good, get a quick knockout, to be better seen as the next Mayweather.

Mayweather Sr: Broner isn’t going to be another Floyd Jr.

broner432By Eric Thomas: After having seen how many times Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) was hit in his last fight by Gavin Rees, Floyd Mayweather Sr. says he doesn’t see him as being another Floyd Jr., but he does think Broner can still be a good fighter even if he’s not at the level of his son Floyd Jr.

Broner has been compared a lot to Mayweather Jr. because of the way he copies his fighting style and with the way he talks and carries himself.

Floyd Sr. told Hustleboss.com “He’s not going to be another Floyd, but he can grow into something good. This is a thinking man’s game. You have to use your brain. That dude [Gavin Rees] that Broner [fought]. I don’t understand it.

Malignaggi plans on putting Broner to sleep this Saturday

malignaggi46By Eric Thomas: WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) isn’t known for having big power or even good power, but he still plans on trying to KO challenger Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) this Saturday night on June 22nd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Malignaggi hasn’t had a lot of knockouts during his 12-year pro career, but every once in a while he’s able to surprise his opponents by showing enough power to get a stoppage. It’s not likely that Malignaggi will be able to get the 23-year-old Broner out of there this Saturday night unless Malignaggi is able to puff up one of Broner’s eyes or cut him to the point where the fight needs to be stopped by Broner’s corner or the ringside doctor. Malignaggi was able to stop former WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko after swelling up his left eye.
