Image: Weights: Broner 134.5, DeMarco 134.5(Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) By Scott Gilfoid: WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco weighed in at 134.5 pounds during Friday’s weigh-in for his bout against #4 WBC Adrien Broner for Saturday’s fight on HBO at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Broner also came in at 134.5 lbs.

In the co-main event, unbeaten heavyweight contender Seth Mitchell weighed in at a solid 242lbs and his opponent Johnathon Banks, the trainer and sparring partner for IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, weighed in at considerably less at 218.5. Mitchell is expected to win this fight and likely by a knockout. Banks was an okay fighter at cruiserweight, but he’s not looked good at heavyweight since moving up in weight and it’s going to be bad for him tomorrow night.

I don’t see this as being a hugely exciting fight like the Froch vs. Bute encounter. To be fair to them though the promoters & fighters have managed to do a wonderful job of building the event set to take place in Nottingham.

It’s seen by many boxing experts as an unofficial handing off of the WBC 135 pound title from DeMarco to Broner in a fight that will be televised by HBO at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.

Also on the card will be unbeaten heavyweight contender Seth Mitchell (25-0-1, 19 KO’s) will be fighting Johnathon Banks (28-1-1, 18 KO’s) at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.

Broner, 23, is the real story on this card because he’s on the verge of becoming a huge bankable pay per view star that could potentially rival the fading stars Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao. Broner is pretty much the replacement for those guys and he could be the guy that be the biggest PPV attraction in the U.S in a very short period of time. There is perhaps one competitor and that’s WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez who could be an even bigger PPV star than Broner, but the jury is still out on Alvarez because his fights aren’t all that exiting due to his flat-footed, slow pace of fighting and his unassuming personality.

Broner seems like the real deal, but he’s still untested really quality opposition.

He’s been fighting in a weak division at super featherweight and he really didn’t have anyone down there that could test how good he is. This is one of the reasons why Broner is moving up in weight to lightweight to take on DeMarco for his World Boxing Council title. If Broner can handle DeMarco without struggling badly, we could see him quickly moving up in weight to light welterweight to look for even bigger tests.

He knows the skinny DeMarco isn’t in his league and will get battered and bruised on November 17th when they battle at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA.

Broner has bigger things to fry than wasting his time worrying himself sick for a guy that’s clearly below him like DeMarco. There’s no worry because Broner has two eyes and he’s seen DeMarco get exposed and stopped by Edwin Valero, Broner has seen how much punishment that DeMarco took in beating Jorge Linares. DeMarco was like a punching bag in that fight, and had Linares had even a slight amount of power going for him he would have stopped DeMarco inside the distance instead of losing the fight himself.
