Broner said to Radio Raheem “I am the biggest face of boxing now. I am the greatest of this era. If Marquez is willing to fight me, I’d love to put on a great show and do what I do best, win. I want to get a victory under my belt in that fight. I can hear him [Marquez] saying the age difference.”

Broner: I hope Ricky Burns doesn’t try to avoid fighting me again
By Scott Gilfoid: WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (25-0, 21 KO’s) is starting to get the sinking suspicion that WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (35-2, 10 KO’s) will be looking to avoid fighting him now that Broner has gotten past Antonio DeMarco with an impressive knockout victory and is setting his laser sights on the UK fighter.
With Burn’s cancelled fight this Saturday against Jose Ocampo, Broner was hoping Burns would agree to fight him on February 16th next year, and his promoter Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions said he was going to try and persuade Burns to accept a fight with Broner. But we’ve learned is that Burns won’t be fighting Broner, and that he instead will be fighting on January 26th against an opponent still to be determined.
Burns targeting Khan and Broner
By Scott Gilfoid: WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns’ manager Alex Morrison is hoping to set up a fight between Burns and former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan in 2013. Burns would be willing to move up to light welterweight to make that fight happen if Khan agrees to the fight.
Abril vs. Broner likely for February 16th
By Scott Gilfoid: ESPN is reporting that Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer will likely be looking to make a fight between Richard Abril (17-3-1, 8 KO’s) and WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (25-0, 21 KO’s) as the backup plan after it was learned that their main target WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns will be fighting on January 26th next year in Glasgow in a title defense. Abril, 5’10”, will be a good option for Broner if Golden Boy can make that fight.
Abril is coming off of an impressive 12 round decision loss to former WBA Word lightweight champion Brandon Rios last April in a fight Rios was lucky to win because the boxing world saw him as a clear loser in that fight. Abril fought really well and showed remarkably well in that fight, making Rios miss and hitting him constantly with pinpoint shots.
Fights I want to see 2013
By Paul Walsh: With the new crop of rising stars emerging and some of the older generation experiencing an Indian summer there is a host of potential super fights possible for 2013. This article intends to look at the possible blockbuster match-ups.
Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao- Even in the wake of Manny Pacquiao’s devastating knockout defeat at the hands of Juan Manuel Marquez, this still remains the biggest and best fight in boxing. Both are coming towards the end of their careers which makes it even more crucial for this fight to happen next year. This is the only match up in boxing which will capture the imagination of the whole world. It is simply now or never.
Broner to face Burns or Abril on February 16th
By Scott Gilfoid: Dan Rafael of ESPN is reporting that WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (25-0, 21 kO’s) will be taking on either WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (35-2, 10 KO’s) or Richard Abril (17-3-1, 8 KO’s).
Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer wants to try and put together a fight with Burns first off, but if that fight can’t be put together he’ll go ahead and look to match Broner with Abril instead.
50 Cent wants Gamboa vs. Broner in 2013
By Dan Ambrose: Buoyed by his fighter Yuriokis Gamboa’s tougher than expected 12 round unanimous decision victory over Michael Farenas to claim the interim WBA World super featherweight title last Saturday night at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada, promoter 50 Cent [AKA Curtis Jackson] said he’d like to put together a fight between the 30-year-old Gamboa and the 23-year-old WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (25-0, 21 KO’s) in 2013.
50 Cent said at the Pacquiao-Marquez 4 press conference “We’re looking forward to moving up and fighting some more exciting fighters in the 135 weight class, like Adrien Broner. We’re all a big fan of the new talent that’s emerging, so I won’t be shy to say that I’m a fan of Adrien Broner.”
Broner to fight on February 16th, Ricky Burns the leading candidate
By Scott Gilfoid: WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (25-0, 21 KO’s) will be back fighting on February 16th on HBO, and WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (35-2, 10 KO’s) is reportedly the leading candidate for the fight, according to RingTV.
Burns isn’t nailed down for the fight, though, because he first of all has to win his scheduled fight next Saturday night against 2nd tier replacement opponent Jose Ocampo (17-5-1, 12 KO’s), but the odds are very high that Burns wins that fight without problems given the opposition that’s been picked out for him.
50 Cent wants Gamboa vs. Broner bout
By Dan Ambrose: Promoter 50 Cent [AKA Curtis Jackson] is interested in matching two-time featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa (21-0, 16 KO’s) up against WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (25-0, 21 KO’s) in the near future, and 50 Cent thinks it would be a huge fight like a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao type of mega fight.
50 Cent said to RingTV “Adrien Broner and Gamboa would be a fight to watch. I think that’s exciting. It could turn into the new Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao.”
For that fight to happen, Gamboa, 5’5”, will have to follow Broner up to light welterweight or possibly even welterweight to make it happen. It’s highly doubtful that Gamboa, as good as he is, can do much at 140 or 147. Gamboa would be too small in those weight classes, and it would be Jose Miguel Cotto, the 5’5” brother of Miguel Cotto, trying to fight at welterweight.
Broner’s dad: We know Ricky Burns is going to vacate rather than fight Adrien
By Scott Gilfoid: Adrien Broner’s dad thinks that WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (35-2, 10 KO’s) will choose to vacate his title rather than face WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner (25-0, 21 KO’s) and get beat. Broner’s dad thinks Burns ran from Broner last year when Broner was on the verge of fighting Burns for his WBO super featherweight title.
Burns vacated the strap and then moved up in weight to the lightweight division, and picked up the WBO lightweight strap outside of the ring.
Broner’s dad said to thaboxingvoice.com “Now we’re coming for him [Burns] at 135. We know he’s going to give up the belt and not fight us, so we’re prepared for that.”
