LOS ANGELES, September 10 – It was going to be a November to remember for boxing fans, as Mexican knockout artist Alfredo Angulo was scheduled to make his return to the HBO airwaves for a WBC title elimination bout against unbeaten Vanes Martirosyan in a dynamite matchup of former Olympians…or so fight fans thought.

WBC News – The World Boxing Council has ordered the free negotiations period for the Vanes Martirosyan vs. Alfredo Angulo fight to determine the mandatory challenger in the WBC super welterweight division.

Undefeated junior middleweight champion Vanes “The Nightmare” Martirosyan (30-0, 19KO’s) is looking to secure a major fight this fall. The World Boxing Council’s top rated junior middleweight had his sights set on a Mexican Independence Day show down with Mexican star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez but that might not come to fruition any time soon.
