Tyson Fury says massive news coming about big fight

fury11111By Scott Gilfoid: IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury said on Twitter today that he has some massive news about a fight coming up involving someone popular.

Fury isn’t saying whether the fighter will be facing him or his cousin Hughie Fury. My guess is it involves Hughie, because he’s the one looking for an opponent for his March 26th fight date at the Wembley Arena in London, UK. Tyson Fury doesn’t have any freedom at all to face someone else because he’s locked into a rematch clause with Wladimir Klitschko for a fight that he needs to take care of this year. Tyson cannot fight anyone between the rematch with Klitschko. It would be nice to see Hughie fight a live body for a change. He’s been fighting stiffs his entire career, and it’s just gawd awful to see the type of opposition that is being dragged into the ring to fight young Hughie. At this rate, I can’t see Hughie ever losing a fight because he’s facing little more than third tier fodder each time he steps inside the ring.

I would say that Hughie might be fighting someone like WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder, but Hughie already turned down a fight against the American talent last year. I can’t see Wilder offering him a second shot. You know the old saying ‘Once bitten twice shy.’ Wilder isn’t going to throw the 21-year-old Hughie another bone just to hear him and his trainer/father Peter Fury reject the fight again. Besides that, Hughie isn’t even ranked in the top 15 by any of the sanctioning bodies at this time. The World Boxing Council would likely reject Hughie as an opponent for Deontay if he tried to take that fight right now, because he has his WBC #1 mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin that he needs to get out of the way first.

David Haye would be too much of an advanced opponent for the light hitting Hughie. That would be like sending a sacrificial lamb to the wolves if Hughie was fed to Haye at this point. Whoever they get for Hughie, it’s going to have to be someone flawed if they want Hughie to win, because he just doesn’t have any pop in his punches.

It would be nice if Tyson Fury were to fight someone in between his rematch with Wladimir; someone like Deontay. I can’t see that happening unless Wladimir were to bless that fight. Why would he though? The longer that Wladimir has to wait before he attempts to avenge his loss to Fury the more it hurts his career. It’s not a good thing for Wladimir if he has to wait for Fury to fight someone else. Besides that, if Fury gets whipped by a talent like Deontay, then it makes Wladimir look even worse. He would then need to beat both Wilder and Fury to make himself look like he’s still relevant, which I don’t think he is at this point.
