Image: Billy Dib calls out BronerBy Scott Gilfoid: IBF featherweight champion Billy Dib (35-1, 21 KO’s) spent a little time today trying to get a fight against former WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) in a back and forth discussion on twitter today.

Dib said “Ready to sign. Forward the contract. Don’t you back out on me now. Funny how I take steps to make the fight happen and you come back with cheap talk.”

Broner said “I will beat your a** bum and you already got your a** beat. Haaa, you got a ‘L’. LOL. Get your s*** together.”

This would be a decent fight if Dib was fighting at least in the super featherweight division, but he’s not. He’s a featherweight and now two divisions below where Broner is fighting. For a Dib-Broner fight to take place, Broner would probably have to move down in weight to at least super featherweight and it’s doubtful that Broner can make the fight anymore.

Besides that, the fight wouldn’t be big enough for it to be worthwhile for Broner to take it. Dib has no fan base in the United States, as he fights out of Australia, and Broner isn’t going to go to Dib’s home country and fight him because it’s not worth it.

The two fighters are going in different directions. Dib is fight that would have made sense in the past for Broner, not now.

Broner is heading for 140 in the near future and Dib doesn’t have the power or the frame to exist outside of the featherweight division.
