Moreno recently easily beat Vic Darchinyan by a 12 round unanimous decision and is now looking to pick up Donaire.

Moreno had to see how vulnerable Donaire looked in struggling to a 12 round decision win over Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. last February. Donaire took a pounding in that fight and looked like he had been beaten with stick. Donaire’s face was marked everywhere he just looked like he’d worked over.

Donaire has all kinds of quality fighters calling him out like Guillermo Rigondeaux, but instead he’s taking on a fighter in a weight division below him Cristian Mijares on July 14th at the Cowboys Stadium in Texas. It looks like Donaire’s promoter Bob Arum is protecting him after the beating Donaire took against Vazquez Jr.

Moreno said to RingTv “Fighting Nonito Donaire is definitely something I have on my mind.”

It’s too bad because I don’t think Donaire will be allowed to fight Moreno, at least not now after Moreno easily beat Darchinyan. He’s probably considered too good for him now.

Arum wants to match Donaire against Jorge Arce in the near future. Rigondeux won’t likely get a fight with Donaire, and the same goes for Moreno. I hope neither of them were under the impression that they would ever get a fight against Donaire because I don’t see that happening. They’re both fighting at too high a level, and would have an excellent chance of beating Donaire and ending his gravy train. Donaire is going to be put in with smaller or weaker guys until the Arce fight. That’s another fight where Donaire is in with a smaller guy, but Arce can fight a little. I think Donaire wins the fight no problem as long as he can hurt Arce with one of his big shots. If not, then Donaire will still win the fight but will get marked up badly like he did against Vazquez Jr.

Moreno has a fight coming up this Saturday night against #10 WBO David De La Mora (24-1, 17 KO’s) at the Don Haskins Convention Center, in El Paso, Texas, United States. Moreno will dominate De La Mora, and take advantage of his tendency to over swing with his shots. Moreno, with his loose style of fighting, will pound out an easy 12 round decision.
