Pacquiao planning on bum rushing Clottey
Big Lo@Speaz, I wouldn’t worry about Pac’s power too much. He hit JMM with the EXACT same punch and only stunned him. In Clottey, he is a facing a thick-skulled Ghanain from the Bukom in Accra, Ghana. I doubt he’ll hurt him. About the weight, a recent report has Clottey at 148. He had to adjust to some shortcomings early on in training camp, but he seems fine. This should be a big advantage in the fight if he comes in 160-165 lbs. Lastly, counters will be big, but the real edge will come with steady activity. If he can stay busy 12 rounds, he wins this fight (but that’s a big IF). Posted March 9, 2010TylerNEWSFLASH “davey boy lahr planning on bum blogging about pacquiao” you deleted this reply so i post it back. SpeazJust heard word out of the Clottey camp that Clottey is at or around 148 right now…but Clottey did say he’d been trimming “a lot” of weight. Posted March 9, 2010SylvesterI have nothing negative to say about either boxer, but we all know Clottey has a good chin and is a very tuff welterweight to knock out early in the fight. If Roach’s plan fails for Pacquiao, then Pacman’s corner is going to have themselves a frustrating fight plus Pacquiao being one the best p4p boxer out there can get tired from just rushing Clottey. Then Pacquiao is just going to end up tired after throwing in the first 4 rounds, and a possibility that Pacquiao wont have nothing left in the tank for later on in the fight, and can be a easy fight for Clottey if he just hangs in there. q’s?: sylvesternunez@gmail.com Posted March 9, 2010SpeazBig Lo Meant to have Clottey as the +underdog. I think I may be out of my mind thinking that Clottey can get a close decision in Texas if this fight goes to the cards. +600/dec/Clottey is tempting but I’m not biting yet. Hard to bet against a guy like Manny with one punch knockout power…even if the other guy is dominating the fight, one punch could turn things around in less than a second. Manny throws punches from awkward angles too, so most of the time, you never see them coming. The weight and the counter combos from Clottey are going to be the keys. Still not sure if Clottey can make ’47 and I haven’t heard ANYTHING out of the Clottey camp. All eyes on the weigh-in now. I’m a little surpised at the near 5-1. Must be BIG money coming in on Pac. ???? Something tells me that Clottey can take Manny’s punches. Could be the money talkin’…but he didn’t seem too bothered by Chico, Margarito, or Cotto. Worried about Clottey’s work rate. I can see betting on him and then getting pissed because he won’t work, and then he complains in the ring when he loses a close decision (a la Winky Wright…who I would never bet on or cheer for…ever!!). Might just take the over/under. Posted March 9, 2010Solini@ Fighter… FighterGood point Solini. Here’s something we agree on. Manny’s face is more likely to open up in a clash of heads too. He’s a bleader. Posted March 9, 2010FighterIs “bum rushing” a fighter, anything different than what Manny usually does? Posted March 9, 2010SoliniI think Freddie Roach is blowing smoke, either that or he knows something we don’t (Texas doesn’t drug test lol,) But no seriously I don’t get his logic but we shall see. If Pacquaio runs into the lion and hits him and the lion is still standing there pawing at him, what happens when the lion gets irritated and smacks the ish out of him. Not to mention I see a headbutt happening in this fight. Just by their styles. Posted March 9, 2010MayfeatherThe writings sound like the old timers Pac-bashers M Peerez and Lame Santiago. LOL! Bash ! bash ! Well, Pac’s fight with Clottey is indeed a real test. Pac, a natural featherweight fight and actually in the same league with Marquez’s weight category is pushing his luck this time to fight at real welterweight (no catchweight) with natural middleweight pure muscle Clottey. In all his professional fights, Clottey has never been knocked out nor knocked down cleanly by any fighter even bigger than him. Packy fans expecting their idol smallish Pac to knock down solidly big Clottey is laughable. Clottey can potentially put sleep any smaller man just like he did with Zab Judah. Putting money on Clottey is a good gamble with 10-1 profits. Posted March 9, 2010wowzabeanbrutal punching/truth, So by your logic Pacquiao shouldn’t fight Mosley anyway because he lost to Cotto? Posted March 9, 2010krayRoach must be planning to do just the opposite of what he’s been saying in the media. This guy lays out the entire game plan, for ALL to see. I know he’s a smart guy, so this must be a ruse. Otherwise, either Roach is getting senile in his old age, he’s totally looking past JC, or this sh*t is fixed. Hell, maybe all three. Admittedly, there is a bit of predictability in Clottey’s style, but the guy’s no fool. JC is a smart boxer, with good reflexes. If Pac comes in recklessly, he could possibly sneak a Devon Alexander uppercut, in, at just the right time…and it’s sweet dreams for Pacman. He has the power in either hand to do this. What Roach needs to be working on, is Pacman protecting that chin, because if Clottey starts landing that double left hook, followed by his straight right hand, Pac’s gonna look dumbfounded. And if he cuts Pacman, it may be a short night. Brutal PunchingU knw wat i agree with the truth, he couldnt have put it any better! he really fought left over fighters! it doesnt make sense him fighting Clottey cos he got beat by Cotto, only reason is so bob arum can make plenty of money as its all in house! i better fight would have been against Timothy Bradley which would have been a real challenge! Posted March 9, 2010wowzabeanda “truth”, Mayweather didn’t beat those guys either. Posted March 9, 2010jimmy.1003@yahoo.com@ da truth your analysis is nice though. but don’t forget that it was Ring Magazine, HBO and other organizations that gave Pacquiao recognitions, not the fans. i hope you could stop the ranting. if you want to blame someone, blame the people that gave those awards. also, your comment about Pacquiao’s fight over Dela Hoya, Hatton and Cotto are full of excuses. that’s the best you can do to degrade Pacquiao’s victories, give excuses. Posted March 9, 2010Emmanuel PacquiaoI definitely agree to them just watch the game and push hard to finish…. maybe we will see it on march 13 who will be the best fighter. Posted March 9, 2010bangus bangerRoach wants to let Clottey to use up more energy in the first few rounds. Then gauge Clottey’s stamina at the middle rounds to mount up a quicker tempo to get Clottey exhausted. da truthTo Rule your Division you have to and must BEAT every top fighter in that division. Rickey Hatton—-Beaten and knockout by MAYWEATHER in (2007/Dec/08) Miguel Cotto—-Beaten and knockout BADLY by Antonio Magarito in (2008/July/26) wowzabeanSome of these posts are funny because you are acting like Freddie Roach doesn’t know how Clottey fights. This guy watches fights over and over and over again, FOR FUN. He knows very well how he fights and unless Clottey comes up w/some brand new fighting style come this Saturday the outcome won’t change. Roach knows him in and out, and Manny has been improving week to week. I trust Roach’s judgement, if Clottey can pull it off I’ll tip my hat, but very unlikely. TKO for Manny 10th. Earlier than Cotto because Cotto backpedaled past round 5. Posted March 8, 2010dallasboxingfanPerfect way to end your career and go be a city councilman in P.I. Pac is fighting someone who has everything to gain, and nothing to lose! Pac and Roach might want to have a plan B just in case plan A falls through. Posted March 8, 2010NELHE BETTER HAVE A DIFERENT PLAN CLOTTEY IS NO BUM.BIG AND A NATURAL RIGHTY OSCAR LEFTY COTTO LEFTY.A STRONG BIG FIGHTER LIKE CLOTTEY IS NOT THE REASON CLOTTEY WILL WIN IS HIS NATURAL STAND. Posted March 8, 2010Big Lo@Speaz, If you check bodog, the odds against Clottey are +475 (and I’m sure it will increase). As I’ve stated before, you can expect Manny to win be on points because of his activity and speed (or a bogus stoppage because Clottey will cover up for extended periods of time). But, very much Bernard Hopkins, Clottey is one of the best underdogs you can bet on (ESPECIALLY at nearly 5 to 1 odds). I will put some money on Clottey to win, but I will put the lions share of money on the fight going over 9.5 rounds. Posted March 8, 2010Manong Tagacebui think its a toss up! both have chances to win by KO! Posted March 8, 2010papolitoDo u thinks if Clottey win & Mayweather wins too . golden boxerpacquiao has trouble with counter punchers morales beat him by doing that marquez should of won and he did that to him clottey has to try to emulate that if he comes at manny like cotto hatton and de la hoya did hes got no chance Posted March 8, 2010galloza101BUM RUSH CLOTTEY YEA RIGHT, people that is not going to happen PacMan better watch out with this guy or he is the one thats going to get BUM RUSH Posted March 8, 2010Boxing FanaticIt is unbelievable the way people put Clottey down. This guy is tough and durable fighter. Manny is going to taste his 4th defeat through a 7th round knockout. Posted March 8, 2010boxing fanyeah clottey is a tough fighter but other than that i cannot agree to you more dave!i followed pacquiao from his very first fight to pulping of cotto and i can tell he’s a intelligent fighter!he learns his lessons and getting smarter too!all of this bruhaha is just an appetizer, come fight night pacquiao will again amaze the world!i already bought ppv myself! Posted March 8, 2010MarathonMan1Joshua can’t let this fight get to the cards. All of his fights are methodical beat downs. True he has lost but it was inactivity. He knows he has to turn it up because Manny is going to be in his face like a sales man selling his next fight. Joshua will be on the biggest stage of his life. 147 at 147… Much respect to both fighters. Posted March 8, 2010PugilistSomething stinks… oh hold on…. no, just Lahr opened his a$$ mouth once more. Mayweather fight blue print: Mayweather/Mosley fight… Fraud jab, Fraud hug, hug again, jab, elbow, push, run… jab, pot shot, hug, elbow, run, run, run, pot shot, run, elbow push… repeat for 12 rounds. People will be booing (this time they may throw stuff in the ring), and PPV viewer will be sleeping. After fight Larry Merchant will ask…”Why so boring?”… Fraud will answer – “Shut up Larry, I’m the best in the world – I’m the greatest – I promise to knockout my next opponent.” ALL THIS WILL HAPPEN IF HE SHOWS UP ON MAY 1st. Posted March 8, 2010SpeazThey have to hurt Clottey early. This is usually Manny’s m.o. (Marquez, Cotto, Oscar…etc), but Clottey is going to be in the turtle shell so we’ll see what happens. One thing about Clottey that I think is going to surprise people is that he’ll actually just let Manny throw, wait until he’s finished flurrying and THEN fire back. This will make things VERY uncomfortable for Pacquiao because he likes to sneak a little blow in between his massive flurries. i remember when Erik Morrales was at his peak, he was nortorious for always firing right back whenever someone landed a combo on him…Clottey does somewhat of the same thing except Clottey will be about 170 lbs on fight night. Watch for that. I’m thinking of taking the odds. Last I checked Clottey was about -450. Vegas is usually on to something when you see >3/1, so I’m probably cheerleading a little bit, but we’ll see as the week goes on. The only thing that concerns me is that Manny usually never gets tired…AT ALL (a la Aaron Pryor…draw your own conclusions there). + Manny always has a puncher’s chance, so it’s hard to bet against him. This has the makings of an upset though. Posted March 8, 2010lex_fugitiveMayweather knows he can’t beat Pacquia outside the ring. Which is why he does his bashing outside the ring … he would cancel the fight with mosley guaranteed ! Pacquiao has dominated for some time but even when he beats Mayweather after Clottey we will still get these guys talking cap and slating him all over again. When are you lot going to face the reality that Pacquiao is the pound for pound champion and deserves to be in that position. Posted March 8, 2010 |
