title Mayweather might fight again “for a couple more bucks”

floyd

By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Jr. says he might come out of retirement for a little more money. He’s leaving his options open after he tried and failed to make a fight between him and UFC star Conor McGregor recently. Mayweather wanted to make the fight with the 28-year-old McGregor for a pay-per-view fight that would have taken place inside a boxing ring, but he couldn’t put the fight together.

McGregor reportedly would have wanted 50% of the revenue for the fight. That obviously would have taken a big slice out of the payday that Mayweather would have received, making it likely that he wouldn’t have made the kind of money he made in the past for his fights. That wouldn’t work obviously.

Mayweather can make a good payday fighting boxers like Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman or Kell Brook and take the bigger slice of the pie. A rematch against Manny Pacquiao would make Mayweather a ton of money if he could get the bigger slice of the revenue. However, the longer Mayweather waits before making a comeback the less money he’ll likely get, because fans forget stars when they stay outside of the ring for a long time. title Joseph Parker vs. Alexander Dimitrenko official weights

parker

By Eric Baldwin: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Joseph Parker (20-0, 17 KOs) weighed in at a solid 240 ¼ pounds on Friday at his weigh-in for his fight on Saturday night against Alexander Dimitrenko (38-2, 24 KOs) for their 12 round fight on Saturday night at the Vodafone Events Centre, in Manukau City, New Zealand.

Dimitrenko weighed in at 254 pounds. This is the same weight the 6’7” Dimitrenko weighed in at for his last fight against Drazan Janjanin last January. Dimitrenko won that fight by an eight round unanimous decision.

Parker, 24, isn’t happy about some of the comments Dimitrenko has made in recent weeks, and he wants to get him inside the ring so he can knock him out. Parker needs to get the 34-year-old Dimitrenko out of the way so that he can potentially fight International Boxing Federation heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (17-0, 17 KOs) on November 26 at the Manchester Arena in Manchester, England. title Juergen Braehmar V Nathan Cleverly: Preview and Prediction

By Rob Maclean: Tomorrow night Neubrandenburg will play host to the World Boxing Association light heavyweight world title contest between German champion Juergen Braehmar (48 35kos, 2) and Welsh challenger Nathan Cleverly (29 15kos, 3). Inevitably when mentioning this contest it’s hard to imagine a light heavyweight title clash without the names Sergey Kovalev and Adonis Stevenson involved. However Jurgen Braehmar holds his version of the WBA strap despite acknowledgement of the governing body that Kovalev is the undisputed champion of that weight class.

For those of you who haven’t seen Braehmar fight it’s utterly undeniable that he isn’t on a level with Kovalev and Stevenson. Yet that doesn’t make this an easy contest for Nathan Cleverly. Braehmar is disciplined, tough and experienced. Read the rest of this entry »

title Tyson Fury can have B-sample tested for cocaine

fury098

By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury has allegedly tested positive for cocaine from his September 22nd test by Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) for his now aborted October 29 rematch against Wladimir Klitschko. According to Dan Rafael, Fury can have his B-sample tested for cocaine. That’s the good news.

If Fury comes out clean, then he at least has the cocaine issues out of the way, and he can then get his medical problems taken care of so he can get back inside the ring and fight Klitschko or whoever. I’m thinking the Klitschko fight probably won’t ever happen though. Read the rest of this entry »

title David Price wants Parker, then Joshua

price1

By Scott Gilfoid: British heavyweight David Price (20-3, 17 KOs) is hoping to get a fight against unbeaten IBF mandatory challenger Joseph Parker (20-0, 17 KOs) after Price takes care of business this Saturday night against 42-yer-old Ivica Perkovic (22-30, 17 KOs) in their six-round fight this Saturday night in Germany.

Price-Perkovic will be on the undercard of the Juergen Braehmer vs. Nathan Cleverly card. Price wants to beat Perkovic, and then fight the 24-year-old Parker next on November 26 to earn a title shot against IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. It’s possible that Price could get Parker if he doesn’t fight Joshua on November 26, but that’s a big IF, because there’s a chance that fight could happen if Joshua doesn’t fight Wlaimir Klitschko next for Tyson Fury’s WBA/WBO heavyweight titles if they get quickly stripped from him by the two sanctioning bodies. With Friday’s news of Fury allegedly testing positive for cocaine in VADA’s testing of him on September 22, he could wind up getting stripped of his titles. Read the rest of this entry »

title Braehmer vs. Cleverly official weights

By Scott Gilfoid: WBA “regular” light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer (48-2, 35 KOs) weighed in on Friday in coming in at a slim and unhealthy looking 173.1 pounds for his title defense against former WBO 175lb champion Nathan Cleverly (29-3, 15 KOs) on Saturday night at the Jahnsportforum, Neubrandenburg, Germany. Braehmer looked almost ill with dark circles under both of his eyes, and he looked older than his chronological age of 37.

Braehmer looked like someone in his 40s. It’s not just because of his thinning hair. Braehmer just looked like someone in his 40s. Braehmer is about to turn 38 on October 5. When you get up there in age, I think some people age rapidly with each year. Instead of it being one year, it’s more like five years for some people. Braehmer did not look like the fresh faced 36-year-old I saw last year at this time when he was fighting an over-matched fringe contender Konni Konrad. Read the rest of this entry »

title Ricky Burns vs. Adrien Broner possible for December

Omar Figueroa vs Ricky Burns

By Scott Gilfoid: If WBA light welterweight champion Ricky Burns (40-5-1, 14 KOs) wins his fight next week against unbeaten #1 WBO Kiryl Relikh (21-0, 19 KOs) on October 7, a fight between Burns and former four division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner (32-2, 24 KOs) is in the pipeline for December, according to news from Burns’ promoter Eddie Hearn. Hearn wanted to make the Burns-Broner fight happen already, but with Broner’s recent legal problems in Cincinnati, Ohio, he decided to have Burns fight the unbeaten Relikh on October 7 at The SSE Hydro, in Glasgow, Scotland.

This is a fight that Burns is expected to win, as Relikh is yet another one of those fighters that is ranked HIGHLY by the World Boxing Association without him having ever shown the kind of talent that is deserving of him being ranked at No.1. Read the rest of this entry »

title Will Mayweather return to boxing?

floyd5

By Angel Flowers: I am sure that unbeaten superstar Floyd “Money” Mayweather will soon be returning to the sport of boxing and get his 50th win. Ever since Mayweather retired many in the boxing world thought he would not be satisfied unless he had 50 wins despite him saying he was out of the boxing game for good.

Of course, by being Mayweather many people are going to express they want to fight him because it is a low risk high reward type of fight. Mayweather does not pose a health threat with his power and his opponent is guaranteed a career defining payday like the ones Marcos Maidana, Andre Berto and Robert Guerrero received.

Mayweather has expressed interest in fighting the following people but I honestly only see him fighting the one person he didn’t name. Read the rest of this entry »

title Kovalev predicts Cleverly win over Braehmer

cleverly6

By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev is predicting a win or Nathan Cleverly (29-3, 15 KO) in his title challenge against longstanding WBA “regular” light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer (48-2, 35 KOs) this Saturday night in Germany. Kovalev thinks the 29-year-old Cleverly will beat the 37-year-old Braehmer. Kovalev doesn’t see it as an easy fight for Cleverly thought, because he notes that the German Braehmer has a good chin and can take heavy shots.

It’s hard to know how good Braehmer is. We know what Cleverly’s level is, as we saw him lose to Kovalev by a 4th round knockout in 2013, and then lose to Tony Bellew by a 12 round split decision in their rematch in 2014, and then lose to Andrzej Fonfara by a 12 round unanimous decision in October 2015. title News: Tyson Fury allegedly tests positive for cocaine!

fury4544

By Jim Dower: Heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury has allegedly tested positive for the banned drug cocaine during his Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) conducted test on September 22 for his now cancelled rematch against Wladimir Klitschko. ESPN is reporting the news. Fury pulled out of his fight with the 40-year-old Wladimir a week ago.

The positive test could lead to Fury losing his WBA and WBO heavyweight titles. There is already fight discussions taking place between Klitschko and IBF heavyweight champion and Anthony Joshua and Klitschko for a match for one or both of Fury’s titles. Read the rest of this entry »
