By Chris Williams: While Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao are both saying that their April 23 fight is a done deal, Top Rank promoter Bob Arum isn’t ready to say it’s a done deal. What means for the Pacquiao-Khan fight remains to be seen.

title Andre Ward vs. Sergey Kovalev promoters start negotiation talks

By Jeff Aranow: The promoters for IBF/WBA/WBO light heavyweight champion Andre “SOG” Ward (31-0, 15 KOs) and former 175 lb. champion Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev (30-1-1, 26 KOs) have reportedly begun talks for a rematch between the two fighters, according to RingTV.com.

There is no deal as of now. Hopefully that will change in the near future, as the boxing world is very interested in seeing Ward and Kovalev battle it out once again. Ward has talked about wanting the rematch to make sense for him. Read the rest of this entry »



title WBC orders Adonis Stevenson vs. Eleider Alvarez fight

By Jeff Aranow: The World Boxing Council has ordered free negotiations to begin between WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis “Super Man” Stevenson (28-1, 23 KOs) and his #1 WBC mandatory challenger Eleider Alvarez (22-0, 11 KOs) for a fight between them. By Dan Ambrose: The 6’0” Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has already seen a flaw in the game of Golden Boy Promotions fighter Saul “Canelo” Alvarez from watching his past fights, and that’s how he struggles when he faces bigger guys. Chavez Jr. notes that Canelo had problems in his fights against Erislandy Lara and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

title Joseph Parker vs. Hughie Fury on May 6

By Scott Gilfoid: WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker will now be defending his title against challenger Hughie Fury on May 6 instead of the original date of April 1. The date for the fight was reportedly moved to help accommodate Hughie’s trainer Joseph Fury to help him be able to make the travel to New Zealand, which is where the fight will be taking place in Auckland. title Canelo-Chavez Jr. bigger than Canelo-Golovkin says De La Hoya

By Dan Ambrose: The May 6th fight between Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) is viewed by Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya as the bigger fight than Canelo vs. Gennady “GGG” Golovkin. Canelo and Chavez Jr. will be fighting on HBO PPV at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

De La Hoya says there are only a couple hundred tickets remaining for the fight. He’s calling a sellout right now. Canelo vs. Chavez Jr. probably will sellout well before May 6, but that doesn’t mean that the fight is a bigger one than a potential match between Canelo and Golovkin.
