By Tim Royner: Anthony Joshua looked highly irritated this weekend when he was asked about his thoughts about superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. potentially coming out of retirement to fight in the octagon in the UFC.

Joshua, who holds the IBF/WBA heavyweight titles, said that he’s not interested in Mayweather news. He said he’s interested in his own career, except he didn’t work it quite as nicely. Joshua seemed to only want questions from the media about his own boxing career rather than on Mayweather teasing about making a comeback to fight Conor McGregor in the octagon.

“I don’t really care about none of that [expletive],” Joshua said to Fighthype when asked what his thoughts were about Mayweather making a comeback to fight in the octagon. ”I’m not interested in all that [expletive]. I want to focus on my own [expletive]. Do you know what I mean,” Joshua said in sounding very irritated at the question.

Joshua does seem to be acting not in the best manner to the question. You’d like to see Joshua being professional when answering questions knowing that so many young boxing fans look up to him. When Joshua speaks the way he did in the video, it reflects badly on him and the sport. You could you imagine baseball great Babe Ruth speaking like this to an interviewer.

This is a bit of a surprise from Joshua, as he usually is on his best behavior when being interviewed. It was a crazy question the interviewer asked Joshua in speaking about Mayweather, but still he went overboard with the way he was answering his question. The use of foul language by Joshua was a little unusual. It could be that Joshua did that intentionally in order to mess with the interviewer to give him video that is filled with expletives instead of clean language. Joshua talking the way he did in the video shoots a big hole in his nice guy image that he portrays.

Mayweather doesn’t seem to like being asked about other fighters when he’s being interviewed. He’s a lot more comfortable when the questions are about his own career. Joshua is doing the same thing in reacting to a question about Mayweather’s career. The interviewer obviously didn’t realize that by asking Joshua about Mayweather, he was making a secondary figure. That’s a no-no when it comes to interviewing somebody.

If Joshua is knocked out in 2018 in one of his fights against WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker or WBC heavyweight champion Deontay ‘Bronze Bomber’ Wilder, you have to wonder if that’ll humble him somewhat and make him a little more of a nice guy when it comes to his interviews.

Joshua will be fighting next month against Joseph Parker on March 31 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. The fight will be televised on Sky Box Office.
