By Marcus Richardson: Tyson Fury will soon know whether he’ll be allowed to resume his boxing career or not, as the UK Anti-Doping hearing begins this week in London, UK. Fury says he thinks he’ll be able to fight in April or May if given clearance by UKAD.

The 29-year-old Fury is hoping they make the right decision to let him continue fighting. It’s been 2 years already since Fury pulled off a huge upset in defeating Wladimir Klitschko by a 12 round decision in November 2015.

If UKAD choose not to let Fury continue his career, they’ll be basing it on some concern they have with past testing for banned substances. It would be shame if Fury isn’t given clearance. There’s no telling how long this could drag out if Fury isn’t cleared.

If Fury is forced to wait on the sidelines for another 2 years, he might not be able to regain the form that he previously had. Muhammad Ali was out of boxing for 3 ½ years during his prime, but he was a far better fighter than Fury, and he didn’t let his wait get out of control. Ali gained some weight during his time out of the ring, but not to the less that we’ve seen Fury ballooning up to near 400 lbs.

“Yes, hopefully they will do the right thing. I want to get back out there. I know what the outcome should be,” said Fury to sksyports.com.

Fury is training and taking off weight quickly to get back down to his best fighting weight of 250 lbs. At the rate the weight is coming off now, Fury could potentially be at his best weight by April or May. The only thing that Fury would need then is to get his sharpness and conditioning back. It’s one thing to be in good shape, and it’s quite another thing to be in fighting shape. Fury will need to work on his stamina, and he’ll need to get used to getting hit again. It’s been 2 years since Fury was last hit, so it could be difficult for him to absorb those same blows after being out of the ring for so long.

End of April, early May. I will be ready by that time, fit and strong. The training plan is set up, so I will be ready by then,” said fury.

Fury wants to fight Tony Bellew early in his comeback. It’s a risky thing for Fury to take a fight like that in his first fight back, but it’s possible he might be bold enough to take that fight.
