By Tim Royner: WBC heavyweight champion Deontay ‘Bronze Bomber’ Wilder (39-0, 38 KOs) is starting early with the trash talking against his potential next opponent #3 WBC Luis ‘King Kong’ Ortiz (28-0, 24 KOs) in calling him “Bubbles the chimp.” This is obviously Wilder making fun of Ortiz’s nickname ‘King Kong.’

Wilder wants to psych out the 38-year-old Ortiz before they get inside the ring in 2018. Wilder did the same thing to Bermane ‘B-Ware’ Stiverne before their recent fight on November 4 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Wilder knocked out Stiverne in the 1st round after dropping him 3 times in the round. The referee didn’t bother to give a count after knockdown number 3 in the round. Stiverne was badly hurt with both eyes closed as he lay on his back on the canvas.

Ortiz was out of the ring for 1 year after testing positive for 2 banned substances while training for a fight against Wilder on November 4. Ortiz wasn’t given the title shot against Wilder after the positive test. However, the World Boxing Council chose to fine Ortiz $25,000 and reinstate him in their rankings. Ortiz is getting a second chance to fight Wilder, and he plans on making the most of it. Wilder didn’t have to give Ortiz a shot at his title, but he wants to, because he feels he’s one of the best fighters in the heavyweight division. The Wilder-Ortiz fight still hasn’t been made as of yet. Wilder made it clear though after Ortiz’s 2nd round knockout win over Daniel Martz last Saturday night that he wants to fight him next. Wilder came inside the ring following Ortiz’s knockout win over Martz and let him know in person that he wants to fight him next. Ortiz looked very happy despite Wilder trash talking him the whole time.

”I blessed you the first time, boy you better get on your knees tonight because God have blessed you with a second time @kingkongboxing I’m about to whoop your [expletive] and This I PROMISE,” said Wilder on his Twitter. ”#BombZquad #TheRealestChampionInTheBusiness #PBConFS1 #WilderOrtiz.”

Wilder vs. Ortiz will be a great fight in 2018. Ortiz looked good in beating Martz last Friday. For Ortiz having been out of the ring an entire year, he wasn’t too rusty.
