By Marcus Richardson: Undefeated heavyweight prospect Daniel Dubois (6-0, 6 KOs) looked devastating in blasting out journeyman Dorian Darch (12-6-1, 1 KOs) in a 4 knockdown stoppage in the 2nd round on Saturday night at the Copper Box Arena in London, England.

Dubois floored the 33-year-old Darch with a right hand after having dropped him 2 other times in the 2nd round. The fight was the halted by the referee. The time of the stoppage was at 51 seconds of round 2.

In round 1, Dubois caught Darch with a right hand that put him down on the canvas late in the round.

After the knockdown, Dubois landed a couple of other big punches before the round ended. Had there been more time, the 6’5” Dubois very well would have ended the fight. It was a total mismatch. Dubois had too much speed, power and talent for the limited Darch.

Darch was cut in the opening round on the bridge of his nose by one of Dubois’ big shots.

At the start of round 2, Darch nailed Dubois with a straight right hand. The shot had no effect on Dubois, who walked through it and started nailing Darch with monstrous right hands. Moments later, Dubois flattened Darch with a hard right hand to the head. When Darch got back to his feet, he immediately caught Dubois with a sneaky right hand. That punch would have hurt a lot of fighters, but Dubois had so much size that he absorbed it without any problems. Moments later, Dubois knocked Darch down with another big right hand to the head. Darch got to his feet once again, but it was clear that he was badly hurt and he wasn’t going to last much longer. As soon as the action restarted, Dubois knocked Darch down for the 3rd time in the round. At this point the referee stopped the contest.

After the fight Dubois’s promoter Frank Warren said he’s going to keep slowly building him up against better opposition over time.

Overall, it was a great performance by Dubois. He showed in the fight that he’s going to be a real threat to the top fighters in the UK. Dubois is open to fighting Joe Joyce and Anthony Joshua. Those fighters likely won’t be tangling with Dubois anytime soon. We’ll likely see Dubois facing unbeaten Nathan Gorman in 2018. Gorman recently won the WBC International Silver heavyweight title last November. Gorman would be a good test for Dubois to see what he’s got. The 6’3”, 250 lb. Gorman has some pop in his punches.
