By Juan Flores: Tyson Fury has a potential tune-up opponent available to him in David Price when he eventually gets cleared to resume his boxing career. Price (21-4, 18 KOs) called Fury out on social media on Thursday.

The 34-year-old Price is obviously hoping that he can get a crack at Fury ahead of all the other heavyweights that will be trying to get a shot at him. Fury is no longer a champion, but he’s going to be treated like one by the other heavyweights.

”Tyson I’m the last (and only) Englishman to beat you! I know deep down you still want revenge. Now if you don’t mind I’m fitting an en suite,” said Price on his social media site.

Price’s 8-year pro career has gone belly up since suffering back to back knockout losses to ring veteran Tony Thompson in 2013. Thompson took away the momentum that Price had with his career, and he’s never recovered. In 2015, Price was stopped in the 2nd round by German fighter Erkan Teper. In Price’s last fight, he was knocked out in the 7th round by Christian Hammer.

Price came into the fight at 275 pounds, and he gassed out in the 5th round after knocking Hammer down. Price was exhausted after that, and he was blasted out by a very average looking Hammer in the 7th round. If Price was in good shape, he probably would have stopped Hammer in 2 or 3 rounds. Coming into the fight at 275 was a big mistake for Price. During his best years, Price weighed in the neighborhood of 250.

Here’s what Fury had to say in response to Price:

”Yes, big Pricy, you were my only real loss in my career Amateur or professional. Would love ❤️ to put it right if I could. Like I said I’m the past they will need 10 plumbers to fix u when I’m done with u.😉”

It’s kind of late in the game for Price to be getting a fight with Fury, but better late than never. If Fury needs a recognizable dance partner for his first fight back in 2018, then the 6’8” Price is definitely a good option for him. However, it’s doubtful that Fury’s management will want to put him in with someone as big and as powerful as Price in his first fight back from a 2-year layoff.

Price can still punch, and his size would enable him to reach Fury’s chin without any problems. It would be too risky for Fury to take a fight against Price right away. Price would be a good option as a tune-up for Fury before he faces the 6’5” Joshua later in 2018.

Fury needs to be cleared by UKAD, and given his license back from the British Boxing Board of Control. It’s unclear how much longer it’ll take before Fury is given clearance. It’s hard to imagine Fury not being given permission to resume his career.

Fury, 29, hasn’t fought since his win over Wladimir Klitschko 2 years ago in 2015. He’s been sitting on the shelf ever since, waiting to be allowed to continue his boxing career.
