By Jeff Aranow: Conor McGregor doesn’t plan on wasting any time when he gets inside the ring with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in their mega-clash at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. McGregor says he’d like to show off his boxing skills to the fans, but he prefers to get destroy the 40-year-old Mayweather quickly within 10 seconds.

The 8oz gloves that the Nevada State Athletic Commission approved for the Mayweather-McGregor fight will surely help McGregor’s cause in getting the aging Mayweather out of there as fast as possible on August 26.

“We are prepared for every possible outcome,” Conor McGregor said. ”Part of me wants to show some skill and dismantle him that way. I’m ready to put him away in the first 10 seconds.”

It’s smart for McGregor to look to get the fight over with while Mayweather isn’t fully warmed up for the fight. Once Mayweather gets his 40-year-old legs limbered up, he’ll be moving around the ring to keep from getting hit. It’ll make McGregor’s job much harder once Mayweather starts moving. I don’t know what we’re going to see with Mayweather. He’s talking about going straight at McGregor to slug with him. He wants to make the boxing fans happy by giving them a knockout. However, coming events cast their shadows before.

Mayweather said in the past that he would make it exciting for the fans, but he’s failed to deliver. The only thing the boxing can predict about Mayweather is more of his past behavior. He’ll promise an exciting fight, but then play it safe in a safety first type of affair on the night of the fight. With Mayweather, you have to go by his actions rather than on what he says. It’s better for McGregor to try and get Mayweather out before he starts moving around the ring.

“I’m very happy with how the promotion has gone,” said McGregor.

McGregor could be making $100 million for the fight if it brings in the 4.6 million that Mayweather believes it’ll bring in on Showtime PPV. Mayweather is talking about getting $350 million for the fight. The truth is probably somewhere in between the $350 million number.

After McGregor gets his paycheck for the fight he says, it’ll be the “counting game.”

It’s really difficult to predict how well the Mayweather vs. McGregor fight will do. There’s a lot of attention on the fight, but it seems more like the MMA fans are the ones that are more interested in the match rather than the boxing fans, who seem to know better. The MMA fans might not realize how good of a fighter Mayweather is. If they knew, they might want to purchase the fight. It’s going to be tough for them watch their hero McGregor get knocked around the ring if he’s unable to score a fast knockout like he’s talking about.

“This is a special historic event and everybody is excited about it,” said McGregor.

It’s in the eye of the beholder when it comes to fans being excited about the Mayweather-McGregor. I don’t know there’s a lot of excitement. It’s more of a case of the fans know that McGregor is likely to lose, and they want to see for themselves if he can maybe score a lucky knockout. I wouldn’t say there’s a lot of excitement. I’d it’s more of a predictable outcome that many fans are hoping won’t come true. The fans seem to want to see McGregor win, but they appear to know that he has virtually no chance.

“Join the queue,” said McGregor about the news that Paulie Malignaggi wants to fight him next in a boxing match. “He got his [expletive] whopped (in sparring).”

Malignaggi is making a career out of talking about McGregor and having him respond to him. Malignaggi has never had this kind of a spotlight put on him for this long of a time in his own career in boxing. Malignaggi’s fights were more as him as the B-side opponent for Adrien Broner, Ricky Hatton, Danny Garcia and Miguel Cotto. Now he’s getting a lot of attention by the casual boxing and MMA fans by him name dropping McGregor’s name night and day on Twitter and in interviews with different news outlets.

It’ll be interesting to see how much longer Malignaggi’s 15 minutes of fame will last. He keeps talking nonstop about McGregor months from now, it’s going to look wretched and more than a little pathetic. But if it helps Malignaggi’s career, I guess you can’t blame him for name dropping the way he’s been doing. As far as Malignaggi getting a fight against McGregor, it’s not going to happen. McGregor told Malignaggi to get in line if he wants to fight him. Believe me; there’s very, very long line of fighters waiting for a chance to fight McGregor. Unfortunately, McGregor will probably never fight Malignaggi. It just won’t happen. Malignaggi brings nothing to the table in terms of ability and popularity. Malignaggi is mainly popular now due to him being McGregor’s sparring partner for a brief amount of time.

“Right now we’re focused on putting him away on Aug. 26, and then we’ll see what happens,” said McGregor when asked about a potential rematch with Mayweather.

This is exact same thing that Mayweather said when he was asked if he’ll be fighting McGregor again. Mayweather is taking a wait and see approach to the fight. Obviously, Mayweather wants to see if the fight brings in a massive amount of PPV buys like the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight did. If the mega-fight brings in 4.6 million buys or more, you can bet that Mayweather will elect to fight McGregor in a rematch in the octagon. That’s only place a rematch between McGregor and Mayweather can take place.

McGregor said he’s not happy with the “disrespect and disregard” for his boxing skills from the fans, who see him as not having any real ability in the sport. The fans have watched McGregor workout and noted how unorthodox he is when throwing punches, and moving around the ring. It’s understandable for the fans to conclude from watching McGregor that he’s totally unskilled and unprepared experience-wise for what he’s going to be dealing with when he gets inside the ring with Mayweather.
