Friday night Bobby Gunn waged war against 5 division word champion Roy Jones Jr., and despite his best efforts, came up short against the slick and elusive Jones Jr.

Gunn came forward throughout the fight, and made Jones Jr. work every minute of each round. Bobby brought out the Roy Jones Jr. of the past, and expressed his gratitude for sharing the ring with a living legend.

“Hats off to Roy,” said Gunn. “I can honestly say I left my heart in the ring and gave it my all, but that night Roy was the better man. He’s a true champion and I was honored to share ring with him. Roy Jones quoted that he respected me beyond measures and he trained extra hard for me and that I can take a shot.”

That night fans saw a Bobby Gunn who was determined and had his eyes on another world championship. It was evident early on that Bobby prepared long and hard to be in the best shape of his life.

He attributes his focus and unrelenting determination on the support of his friends, family and fans and team.

“All through training camp they let me know how much they believed in me, and went above and beyond to be there for me. Even after the fight, they told me how proud of me they were. I can’t express what that means to me. I have to give a big thank you to my son Bobby Jr. for being by my side everyday leading up to the fight, my trainers Dominic Scibetta and Ossie Duran, two of the top trainers in the game, Big Joe Mack, Sharif Kemp for the top level sparring, the president of the Bare Knuckle Boxing Hall of Fame Scott Burt, Joseph Curcio, and the entire town of Belfast, NY. And of course, David Feldman for making this fight happen and putting on a top notch show. I’m blessed to be surrounded by the best team, and we are far from over.”

Bobby was born and bred into fighting, and his condition Friday night can lead us to believe that’s there’s still some bullets left in the Gunn
