By Gav Duthie: Eager to bounce back quickly from the disappointment of Jurgen Braehmer’s elbow injury and subsequent title defeat Kalle Sauerland is promising announcements for his British contingent David Price and George Groves.

David Price

Despite fighting only last night Kalle Sauerland let slip that Price is going to face fellow British prospect David Allen 9-1-1 (6), October 15 on the Tony Bellew v BJ Flores undercard. This would be only 2 weeks to the day between fights. Obviously Price means business but in reality he hardly broke a sweat last night against journeyman Ivica Perkovic stopping him in 2 rounds at the event in Germany. Price’s ability to beat guys at this level has never been in question and neither has his boxing talent but his chin and stamina have and at the very least Allen will ask some questions of these two attributes. Allen recently admitted depression and a gambling addiction following his loss to Dillian Whyte and said he was taking time away from the sport. As a result this impending bout is somewhat of a surprise and one wonders what shape he will be in both physically and mentally but one thing is certain, Price needs to step it up.

George Groves

There is no concrete information regarding Groves but Kalle said there will be a big announcement this week. It is entirely possible that George may get a 4th crack at a world title. His win over Martin Murray placed him back up to #3 in both the WBC and WBA rankings and it is entirely possible he may get a chance at the WBA title. The WBA regular title is tied up with a rematch between Giovanni De Carolis and Tyron Zeuge but the super title who knows? We are waiting on a legal investigation and B-sample test for current champion Felix Sturm who tested positive for a banned anabolic steroid. It is possible that George could face former title holder Fedor Chudinov if the strap becomes vacant but as yet this is unconfirmed.

We await officially announcements from team Sauerland on both fighters but it should be interesting news for both fighters.
