By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan said today that fellow countryman Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) needs to focus on the task at hand in in his upcoming fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, England. Khan said, “If I was you I’d focus on GGG #wewantyoutowin 😉” This was a response on Khan’s part to a comment made by Brook earlier in the day in which he compared Khan to the Kardashians.

Khan recently changed his mind about not wanting to fight Brook. This change of opinion about the fight after all this time struck Brook has funny for some reason. Just why is unknown.

The main reason that Khan had little interest in fighting Brook for many years was because he wasn’t fighting the best guys. He was being matched against fighters like Frankie Gavin, Jo Jo Dan, and Matthew Hatton instead of the world class guys.

“I have heard that he hates me, Amir Khan, and he does want that fight,” said Brook to skysports.com. “Last week he didn’t want the fight. He’s worse than the Kardashian sisters. I haven’t got time for him. I am not really concentrating about Amir Khan right now – Gennady Golovkin is the man in front of me.”

Brook needs to put all of his attention on the GGG fight, because he’s very likely going to end up as the 23rd straight knockout victim on the night. Golovkin has been knocking out arguably better fighters than Brook can ever hope to be, and this is probably a step down for Golovkin from the guys he’s been fighting recently. Brook is just a guy has been melting down from the 160s and 170s to fight at 147 against lighter welterweights.

Brook weighs as much if not more than Golovkin, and for some reason he’s been fighting at welterweight. If Golovkin’s past opponents Curtis Stevens, David Lemieux, Martin Murray and Willie Monroe Jr. were to melt down to 147 too and fight the same guys that Brook has fought, I think there’s a very good chance that they would be unbeaten too. Let’s be serious.

When you dehydrate from the 170s to 147 to fight against true welterweights, then you’re going to have a huge advantage over them in the size and strength department. Brook has been taking advantage of the fact that there aren’t same day weigh-ins, because of there were, he probably wouldn’t be able to fight at welterweight.

Even if Brook does concentrate fully on Golovkin without any distractions whatsoever, he’s still going to be really up against it, because Golovkin has amazing power that the middleweight division hasn’t seen in a long time. Brook doesn’t have that kind of power.
