We have fighters like Gervonta Davis, Roman Gonzalez, Randy Caballero, Joseph Diaz, Anthony Joshua, Felix Verdejo; the list goes on. The sport of boxing is healthier and greener than ever.

One fighter I did not mention on that list is no other than the youngest fighter to fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. He goes by Devin “The Dream” Haney. A 17 year old undefeated prodigy with a professional record of 5-0, 3 KO’s, born in San Francisco, Calif. and fighting out of Las Vegas, Nev.

This prodigy is taking the sport of boxing by storm, dominating fighters with explosive combinations and ring intelligence. Haney’s USA debut took place on the pay-per-view Pacquiao-Bradley III undercard. A bout he dominated without any problems. Haney is trained by Floyd Mayweather Sr. one of the sharpest trainers in the sport of boxing. Mayweather Sr. is confident Haney will retire a hall of famer if everything goes as planned. He was not too shy to stress that Devin Haney will accomplish more than Saul “Canelo” Alvarez by age 24.

Every era and environment has their Albert Einstein, Nikola Tesla, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Muhammad Ali, and many other greats who impacted the world with their talent. The sport of boxing has Devin Haney, a young fighter with big shoes to fill. Haney left the amateur scene with a record of 130 victories and only 8 losses. In the sport of boxing nothing is guaranteed and dreams can get blurry when adversity strikes like a wild animal. The road to greatness won’t be easy but with the right discipline, hard work, and mentality; team Haney may get there one day.

Here’s what Floyd Mayweather Sr. had to say about the young undefeated fighter, Devin Haney.

Edgar Solorzano: Where do you see Haney two years from now?

Mayweather Sr: In two years, Haney will be nineteen. It is possible for him to become a champion at that age. Around the age of nineteen or twenty, I think he will be champion.

Edgar Solorzano: Canelo started at a pretty young age, do you think he will accomplish more than Canelo by the time Haney is twenty-four?

Mayweather Sr: Yes, I think so. Thing is, it all depends on people. People think different but if Devin does things right, if he does everything right like he is supposed to, he can’t miss.

Edgar Solorzano: Do you see Haney being a future hall of famer?

Mayweather Sr: Yes I do.

Edgar Solorzano: If you were to compare Haney to any fighter, who would you compare him to?

Mayweather Sr: I’m not going to compare him to any fighter. Haney is a good fighter and I’m sure he will win a title, and I think right now we going on the right road with him. To be honest with you, I think he will win more than one and two titles.

Edgar Solorzano: Are you satisfied with Devin Haney’s last victory on the Pacquiao-Bradley III undercard?

Mayweather Sr: I was very happy with that win, that was a good win; a real good win. It looked like he never got hit at all.

Edgar Solorzano: Did you feel he could’ve stopped him early?

Mayweather Sr: To be honest I will tell you this right now, Devin was hitting him with some good shots, as fast as he is, if he turned his speed up a little bit more I think that may have done the trick and stopped his opponent.

Edgar Solorzano: Do you think he will be on Floyd Mayweathers level one day?

Mayweather Sr: It is very possible. If he is getting trained by Floyds father, something is going to happen. He is going to be exciting and he is going to be definitely a Hall of Famer.

Edgar Solorzano: What is your message to the fans, about Devin Haney?

Mayweather Sr: You better keep your eyes on him because whatever it is, it’s going to be explosive.

Edgar Solorzano: Thank you for the interview

Devin Haney will be back in action on May 21 at The D Hotel in Las Vegas, Nev.
