Haye says Joshua is ready for Fury right now

joshua56666By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye is in the belief that IBF heavyweight belt holder Anthony Joshua (25-0, 18 KOs) can already face IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) right now and beat him. Haye notes that Fury is slow is on his feet and not agile to escape someone like Joshua. Haye says that Joshua beat Fury up in sparring in the past when Joshua was still an amateur.

We don’t know whether this was in fact true or not. This is more of a case of Fury complimenting Joshua after a sparring session and he may have gone a little bit overboard in slathering on the compliments. Of course, there’s also rumors that David Price took care of Joshua during a sparring session, so it’s hard to know what reality is when it comes to rumors.

“I think he’s ready for Tyson Fury right now. If you look at Fury’s style, he’s very loose and not very fast or agile,” said Haye via skysports.com. “Joshua has already beaten him up in sparring. You’ve only got to go on YouTube and look at the comments of Fury talking about getting beaten up by a young Joshua. That was when Joshua was an amateur; a novice. If you can beat a seasoned professional up then, now that Joshua himself is a professional I don’t think Fury has a shot in hell.”

What Haye says would mean a lot more if he didn’t have a dog in this hunt. It’s a known fact that Haye BADLY wants to fight Joshua because it’s a fight that would be huge in the UK. Haye can make many millions of dollars fighting Joshua. I think it’s a bigger fight than it would be if Haye could fight Fury, which he obviously can’t. Fury closed the door permanently on any future fights against Haye after he suffered a couple of injuries training for scheduled fights against him causing their fights to be cancelled.

Fury thinks Haye got a case of cold feet and didn’t want to fight him. As such, Fury wants no part of rescheduling any future fights against Haye. When you look at Haye, he only has one option for a big money fight and that’s against Joshua. Wladimir Klitchko won’t bother fighting Haye again because he already soundly beat him in 2011. Deontay Wilder won’t likely fight him either because he can make more cash fighting Fury or Joshua because they have world titles and Haye has done nothing since making a comeback earlier this year other than fighting some obscure fighter/weight lifter named Mark De Mori.

“Hopefully, Joshua could unify the titles there and when him and his team feel he’s ready and it’s worthwhile, I’d love the opportunity to get in there because I believe I could beat him,” said Haye.

Haye sure does sound a tad bit needy, doesn’t he? Haye needs to back off a little and give Joshua his space. This needy stuff is really off putting. Haye comes across as almost too desperate for the Joshua fight, and that can’t be a good feeling for Joshua and his promoter Eddie Hearn. I think Haye needs to stop name dropping and start focusing on fighting some talented fighters to help build up the Joshua fight. I wouldn’t even mention Joshua’s name if I were Haye. Even if I were asked about him, I would change the subject and tell the interviewer that I only want to talk about guys that I’m about to fight.

Unfortunately, Haye has another soft job scheduled for his next fight. He’ll be fighting some guy named Arnold Gjergjaj (29-0-KO21) on May 21 at the O2 Arena in London, UK. I checked out some of Gjergjaj’s fights, and he looks worse than De Mori in my view. I don’t know why Haye is going downwards rather than upwards in choosing opposition. I do know that he’s doing a poor job of making a future Joshua vs. Haye fight a big blockbuster event. The way to build the fight up is to fight the best contenders possible each time rather than handpicking easy marks like Gjergjaj and De Mori. Sadly, after Haye gets done beating Gjergjaj, his next fight will be against 44-year-old Shannon Briggs. I think Haye has no intention of fighting anyone good. I think he’s just looking for the big payday fight against Joshua.

Joshua will be fighting next on June 25 against unbeaten U.S. 2012 Olympian Dominic Breazeale (17-0, 15 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London, UK. The Joshua-Breazeale fight will be televised on Sky Box Office PPV. If Joshua wins this fight, which would seem highly likely, he could fight Fury if he beats Wladimir again. Fury doesn’t seem interested in letting the Joshua fight marinate. He wants the fight as soon as possible, which makes a lot of sense. Fury is someone that will get beaten sooner or later no matter whom he faces. It’s better for Fury to cash out now for the most money rather than getting whipped for less against the likes of Luis “The Real King Kong” Ortiz.
