Briggs takes credit for Fury’s win over Klitschko

briggs66By Scott Gilfoid: Shannon Briggs was England on Wednesday at Buckingham Palace, still looking for British heavyweights Anthony Joshua, David Haye and Tyson Fury in order to try and get a fight against them.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that the 44-year-old Briggs has been able to find them because if he did, he would be sure to let the media know. Briggs is in the UK trying to scare up some game by trying to weed out Fury, Joshua and Haye. Briggs believes he has a chance to fight Haye due to him recently mentioning his name as a possible opponent for his May 21st fight at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

The fact that Haye isn’t coming out to meet with Briggs to setup the fight suggests that he’s looking in a different direction for his next fight.

Believes it or not, Briggs believes that he’s the reason why the 6’9” Fury was able to beat Klitschko last November.

“(Fury) should be calling me, thanking me. It was because of me he beat Klitschko…I rattled his cage for two years. He was done. I chased him down,” said Briggs to skysports.com. “‘Wherever you go, I go. Whatever you do, I do. You train, I train. Wherever you eat, wherever you sleep, I’m coming to find you. I’m the champ!’”

Well, if Briggs is taking credit for Fury’s narrow and unimpressive win over Klitschko, then he might want to take credit for Fury’s loss when he faces Wladimir in the rematch in the summer, if the fight even takes place. I think Fury is going to lose the rematch, and if that happens, someone has to get the blame. Maybe Briggs can take credit for the loss by saying that Fury lost his nerve when he came to London looking for him to try and get a fight. Seriously though, Briggs is probably wasting his time and his money in the UK. I don’t think any of those guys are interested in fighting him, ever.

If it was me, I’d be on the first plane out of the UK because I would know straightaway whether there was any interest from those guys. Briggs’ problem is Fury, Joshua and Haye have other options. Well, Joshua and Fury have options. Haye’s options are kind of limited because I think he’s looking for a certain type of opponent for his next fight. Haye could probably get someone that is really good if he wanted to, but I don’t think that’s the agenda he has. I see Haye looking for a soft job similar to his last opponent Mark De Mori so that he can get an easy win, and then crow about the win afterwards.

Briggs really should focus on trying to get the fights that are attainable. I do not see him getting a fight against Haye, because like I said, Haye is going to probably go for a soft job so that he doesn’t get beaten before he gets a cash out fight against Joshua.
