Tyson Fury: The Fury’s are bred to fight!

fury1000By Scott Gilfoid: While unbeaten IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) has been flapping his gums lately about whether he should continue pro career or not, he’s now saying that his family are like horses in that they were designed to be fighters.

It is interesting that Fury says that because born fighters do not usually talk about retiring at the age of 27 the way that he is doing. That kind of thing gives some fans the impression that Fury wants to retire before he’s found out and exposed as not being as good as he might think he is.

To be sure, if Fury retired at the top right now, he would not have to experience being knocked out and/or viciously thrashed by someone like Deontay Wilder. By walking away now, Fury can spare himself a potential beating. At the same time, Fury’s potential early retired would also keeps himself from finding out if he is good enough to beat the likes of Wilder, David Haye, Anthony Joshua and Charles Martin.

“I could walk away. I could just sail into the sunset unbeaten with all the belts and live a normal life,” Fury said to the dailymail.co.uk. “All that I would be boxing for is money and I always thought to myself I never want to let sport become about money. Like horses are bred to run around the track. Fury’s are bred to fight.”

Well, Fury has a chance to show whether he was bred to be a fighter by facing Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) in a rematch this year to prove that his win over him last November wasn’t just a fluke thing like many boxing fans think it was. Fury barely beat Wladimir by a narrow 12 round decision in a fight that was close enough to be a draw.

If Fury were to retire without facing Wladimir, he would be losing tons of cash in the process. Fury says that he does not care about money, but I highly doubt that is true. In looking at Fury’s expensive Lamborghini automobile that he is now driving around, I think money is definitely important to him.

I think Wladimir is going to come out and take Fury’s head off in the rematch this year. Fury had it easy last time against Wladimir because he wasn’t throwing any punches. But believe me, Wladimir is going to be teeing off with right hands against Fury when they meet up this year.

I hope for Wladimir’s sake that he studies what he did wrong in the previous fight very closely and works on correcting the problems, because he seemed paralyzed with uncertainty last November in losing to Fury.

It was so incredibly obvious what needed to do, but he fought like a rank amateur in there. If he had just listened to his trainer Johnathon Banks and brother Vitali Klitschko, then he would have turned the fight round after a few rounds and scored an easy knockout. Wladimir seemed to over-think everything he did in the ring instead of letting his hands go. Wladimir needed someone to slap sense into him in between rounds.
