David Haye trashes Tyson Fury

haye6444By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye has been vocal lately in saying that Tyson Fury will easily beat the 39-year-old Wladimir Klitschko in their rematch this year. Haye’s comments about Fury doing a better job against Wladimir in the rematch could be construed by some to mean that Haye is on good terms with the 6’9” Fury.

That would be the furthest thing from the truth though. Haye doesn’t seem to care too much for Fury, and he doesn’t respect how he openly has commented that he doesn’t want to fight him or WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder. To Haye, he sees Fury’s reluctance to fight him and Wilder as an indication of what kind of person he is.

“He already gave up the IBF title,” Haye said to skysports.com about Fury vacating his IBF title shortly after winning it against Wladimir last November. “If he gives up more titles, he might end up standing there empty-handed. He has also said he is not fighting against Wilder because he’s just a basketball player.”

Yeah, that was sad how Fury started blabbering about how he saw Deontay as just a former basketball player that took up boxing recently. Fury then said that Wilder would have to get in line if he wants to fight him. Fury’s words came across like he was looking for excuses not to have to tangle with Wilder.

“Why do we need to mention Deontay Wilder? Let’s laugh at his name, shall we! Why would I be bothered about a novice like Wilder?” Fury said. “He’s [Wilder] a basketball player who took up boxing a couple of years ago. I’m a true natural fighter. I’ve been doing it all my life. So, if Deontay Wilder wants a unification fight he is going to have to wait because Wladimir Klitschko has a round-two.”

Does that sound like a fighter that wants to face Deontay? Nope. Fury’s comments give me the idea that he doesn’t want to tangle with the 6’7” Deontay due to how dangerous he is as a puncher. If Fury gets nailed by Deontay, he would wind up getting knocked clean out just like Artur Szpilka did in his recent fight against Deontay last month.

Szpilka fought the perfect fight for the first eight rounds, but in the 9th, he made a mistake and was knocked unconscious by a right hand from Wilder. Szpilka then had to be taken out of the ring on a stretcher. It looked really bad.

“It’s a bit surprising that the new world champion is announcing that he will not compete against one of the two most dangerous heavyweight in the world,” Haye said. “That says a lot about him as a man.”

Unfortunately, it looks like Fury will never fight Haye due to the fact that Haye pulled out of a scheduled fight against him in the past because of an injury. That’s Fury’s loss not to fight Haye because he could make a lot of money if he took that fight. If Fury chooses never to face Deontay too, then that’s another big payday that he’ll never get because a lot of boxing fans would pay to see the two of them face each other on PPV.
