Haye says Fury will get ripped off in rematch with Wladimir

haye6By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye is already on record saying he thinks IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 18 KOs) will defeat Wladimir Klitschko (64-4, 53 KOs) in their rematch this year, but Haye has doubts whether Fury will be given the decision if the fight goes to the scorecards.

Haye believes that the only reason why Fury was allowed to escape Germany last November with a 12 round decision win was because there was a rematch clause in the contract for the fight that enabled Wladimir to get a rematch with Fury if he lost the fight. But now that Fury and Wladimir are facing each other again, Haye thinks that Fury could wind up on the receiving end of a controversial decision in Germany.

Fury beat Wladimir last November by the scores of 115-112, 116-111 and 115-112 in Dusseldorf, Germany. I thought the fight was scored fairly, as there was no way that Wladimir was going to be given a victory due to his lack of offense. He wasn’t throwing any punches, which made it impossible to give him more than 3 or 4 rounds.

“I believe Tyson Fury will beat him [Wladimir], but he’ll get ripped off in Germany,” Haye said to IFL TV. “It will be something that will happen that will be out of Tyson Fury’s control. He’ll win the fight in terms of winning more rounds than Wladimir Klitschko. Whether the judges agree with it is a whole another story in Germany. They’ve already given Tyson Fury the benefit of the doubt once; although I thought he won the fight easy. I don’t think they’ll do that again. He makes too much money for everyone involved. Maybe one of the reasons why Tyson Fury was allowed to walk away with a victory is because everyone knew there was a rematch clause, and if Wladimir lost, he would get another opportunity maybe,” Haye said.

I think Haye is moaning about nothing. If Fury rightfully beat Wladimir, he’ll get the win no matter where the fight takes place. The judges aren’t going to conspire to give the win to the 39-year-old Wladimir just for the sake of giving the aging Ukrainian back his titles. I mean, it’s not as if Wladimir will be able to keep his titles even if he were able to get a gift decision by the judges. What Fury’s close win over Wladimir showed last November is that Wladimir is pretty much at the end of his career in my view. As such, he’s not going to be able to hold onto his titles for more than a fight or two at best, and that’s only if he fights bottom 15 type contenders. If Wladimir faces a decent top 10 heavyweight, I see him losing by knockout. He doesn’t seem able to throw punches anymore.

Haye has a fight this month against #10 WBA Mark De Mori on January 16 at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Haye wants to get past De Mori and then collect all the heavyweight titles. I doubt that it’s going to happen, but that’s what Haye’s immediate goal is. He also wants to fight Anthony Joshua.
