PBC Staples Centre, Jan 23 2016By Yannis Mihanos: Last Saturday night, I watched the best ever Danny Garcia (32-0-, 18 KOs) defeat former two division world champion Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (33-4-1, 18 KOs) by a 12 round unanimous decision on Premier Boxing Champions on Fox from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

Garcia has often been questioned about getting protected and managed with a little bit too much extra care. However, last Saturday night, Garcia masterfully displayed elements of boxing genius.in beating the 32-year-old Guerrero.

Credit for this performance by Garcia, I must first give first to his opponent Guerrero.

Guerrero, for the last few years, has been struggling to step up to the level that brought him to face the one and only Floyd Mayweather Jr. for the last few fights has been in constant decline but last Saturday night things were different. Guerrero gave his best shot and brought back memories of his early glory days.

He tried bring Garcia down to his knees but unfortunately for him Garcia proved too tough, elusive and skillful to go down like this.

Guerrero has never been an exceptional fighter but no one can doubt his warrior spirit. He tried to make this fight a brawl.

Moments of brawl were few and far in between, but those were the rounds that Guerrero clearly won. Guerrero is the master of brawl and he stood up well in enduring savage hits by Garcia. Guerrero took severe blows that for sure would have someone else knocked down. He is indeed a tough nut.

What the future holds for each fighter? I will only answer about Garcia and I will give a break for the humble in defeat Guerrero.

There is a possibility of a rematch between Garcia and Amir Khan in 2016. The way I see it right now, I think it would be better for Khan to skip it because he will definitely go down. The blows that Guerrero withstood I think would be too much for Khan.

Garcia now has acquired enough power, experience and quality to stay number 1 and unify the titles.

“One time” Keith Thurman who was commenting the fight for FOX TV channel was also impressed by this performance.

In my eyes, Garcia vs. Keith Thurman can be a hell of a fight. Of course, Thurman will need to get past Shawn Porter in their fight on March 12 on Premier Boxing Champions on CBS from the Mohegan Sun Casino, in Uncasville, Connecticut.

I believe that the Garcia vs, Thurman fight has the potential to be a boxing classic.

After last Saturday’s performance, Garcia has earned his right to sign for the biggest matches out there. He is now undoubtedly one of the best in boxing. No one can take him again lightly.
