David Haye not worried about Tyson Fury

haye3333By Scott Gilfoid: David Haye (26-2, 24 KOs) says he’s not worried at all about IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (25-0, 19 KOs) in coming back to the sport after being outside of the ring for 3 ½ years. Haye wants to win world titles and he’s targeting unbeaten British/Commonwealth champion Anthony Joshua as someone he feels will give him a good test.

As for Fury, Haye acknowledges that there’s no way the two of them will fight because Fury has already said he won’t give Haye a chance to fight him because of his bad experiences in the past when attempting to face him in 2013.

Haye suffered two injuries that wiped out fights with Fury. Because of the bad experience Fury had with Haye, he’s not going to give him the time of day. Fury says he’ll even vacate his heavyweight titles if forced to defend against Haye.

“He said the one person he’s never going to fight is me and he’ll throw his titles in the bin rather than fight me,” Haye said to skysports.com. “He’s definitely a name that I’m not worrying about.”

Haye would obviously fight Fury if he had the titles and he became his mandatory challenger, but it looks like Fury is going to make it easy for Haye by vacating his titles rather than taking the fight to defend them. I think it’s kind of childish on Fury’s part to want to vacate his titles rather than take the fight against Haye if he gets that.

Just because Fury had a bad experience or two in the past involving Haye doesn’t mean that it’s always going to be the same every time. I think it would be stupid beyond belief if Fury pulled a childish move by vacating his titles if Haye became his mandatory.

The thing with Haye and Fury though is that the two of them likely won’t be able to win fights once they face someone talented like Deontay Wilder. Haye has a fight coming up next month against #10 WBA Mark De Mori (30-1-2, 26 KOs) on January 16th at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

This is a fight that Haye should be able to win because De Mori’s record is totally padded completely with fodder opposition. However, you can’t rule De Mori out because Haye has been out of the ring for so long and he’s 35-years-old now. Haye isn’t a natural heavyweight, so he could struggle with the size of De Mori.

“I’ve got to be 100 percent because on January 16 at the O2 Arena I’m going to have to show that I’m the best heavyweight on the planet,” said Haye.

Well, I think Haye need not worry about trying to show the boxing fans that he’s the best heavyweight in the planet, because no matter what he does in this fight against De Mori, I don’t see anyone seeing him as the beat heavyweight in the planet.

In order for Haye to make boxing fans think he’s the best heavyweight in the planet, he’s going to need to face a lot better fighters than the 33-year-old De Mori. Haye is going to need to take on the likes of Deontay Wilder, Alexander Povetkin, Luis Ortiz, Bryant Jennings and Kubrat Pulev. If Haye can take on all those heavyweights and beat them, then I think he’d go a long ways towards showing he’s the best fighter in the heavyweight division.
