Tyson Fury sings to Wladimir Klitschko

fury441By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight Dillian Whyte sees Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs) as having a tough task ahead of him on Saturday night in trying to pull off a big upset of IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) in their fight at the ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Whyte feels that Klitschko has more ways of winning, and that Fury will need to really take the fight to him in order to win. Whyte knows full well how good Klitschko is because the two of them share the same trainer in Johnathon Banks, so that he can see how good Klitschko is in his training camps.

“The thing about Wlad is that if he has to jab his way to a 12-round decision, he will. If he can get the knockout, he will,” Whyte said via skysports.com. “I’m sure Tyson is going to be on him – I hope Tyson makes a fight of it.”

Fury had better listen to Whyte and try and put some pressure on Klitschko in this fight, because if he lets Wladimir stay on the outside, he’s going to get jabbed and bombed to pieces.

Wladimir, 39, does have more ways to win than the 6’9” Fury, who pretty much has to go in there looking for a knockout on Saturday night. If he doesn’t get to Klitschko in this fight early, it could be all over for him. I figure that Fury needs to try and get Klitschko out of there early on in the fight, because the longer the contest goes the more likely Wladimir will end up connecting with one of his big shots to score a knockout.

“I hope he gives Wlad some test or threat that we haven’t seen for a while,” Whyte said. “But it’s an uphill struggle, isn’t it? You’ll see two of the best heavyweights in the world going at it.”

I don’t rate Fury as being in the same class as Klitschko, but you can make a strong argument that Fury is at least top 10 in the heavyweight division. I wouldn’t say that Fury is top 5 though, because I see a number of heavyweights that I feel are better than him.

Here are the heavyweights who I see as the best in the division right now:

1. Deontay Wilder

2. Dillian Whyte

3. Wladimir Klitschko

4. Alexander Povetkin

5. Erkan Teper

6. Luis Ortiz

7. Anthony Joshua

8. Bryant Jennings

9. Kubrat Pulev

10. Tyson Fury

I can’t put Fury in my top five because I think guys like Povetkin, Klitschko, Wilder, Whyte and Teper all have too much punching power for Fury to deal with and would likely KO him if given the chance.

Earlier today, Fury sang a song for Wladimir during Wednesday’s public workout in Germany. It was hard to understand what it was all about. It looks like Fury really fancies his singing voice. This wasn’t the first time that Fury has burst out into song, and that makes me think that he believes he can sing. His song was too long for my tastes and sounded pretty horrible to my ears. Hopefully, Fury doesn’t decide to sing before or after his fight this Saturday night at the ESPRIT Arena. I think the boxing fans could do without his singing.
