By Scott Gilfoid: Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs) says he got near enough to IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) today to smell that he was wearing women’s perfume at their final press conference in Dusseldorf, Germany. Fury says he has absolutely no fear of Klitschko, because he’s seen a lot of his fights and discovered that he has a ton of flaws in his game that he believes he can take advantage of on Saturday in their fight at the ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The two fighters have been going through some disagreements over the gloves for the fight, but that’s expected to be worked out by fight time on Saturday.

“He [Klitchko] smelled nice. He had women’s perfume on. I smelled it. I’m going to get my wife to get that stuff, because I liked the smell of it,” Fury said to skysports.com. “I don’t want to frighten him off this close to the fight. I don’t want to make him fall over in the shower.”

Oh man, Fury is really insulting Klitschko by saying he’s wearing women’s perfume. I’m sure Klitschko was wearing nothing of the sport. He was likely wearing some expensive cologne that he picked out from one of the finest shops in Germany. Fury is obviously trying to throw Klitschko off his game by making the perfume comment.

When the two of them stood for the face off today at the final press conference, Fury leaned forward and smelled both sides of Wladimir’s neck to catch the aroma of his cologne. Fury then threw some wise cracks in trying to get Wladimir to either smile or look embarrassed.

Wladimir did neither though. He just stared at Fury with his lifeless eyes without showing any emotion at all. Finally after a short spell, it was Fury who began to look sheepish from the stone cold stare down from Klitschko. It was pretty obvious to me that Wladimir had gotten the better of Fury during the stare down and had him looking to retreat to the safety of Wladimir’s non-staring eyes.

“I think this is going to be one of my easiest fights,” Fury said. “I know that sounds crazy because he’s a super-champion but I see so many chinks in his armor. There are so many things he doesn’t do very well and we’ll see what I’m talking about on Saturday night. There’s nothing he does that worries me.”

Well, if Fury isn’t worried about Wladimir’s punching power, then he had better start worrying, because he’s going to be eating his power shots on Saturday night one after another, and I just don’t think that he’s going to be able to take the punches without going down for the full count. Fury is acting like he’s not worried in this fight, but that’s either a big bluff on his part or just plain stupidity. I’m not sure which.

Some fighters are just not bright enough to know when they’ve met their match, and they go into a fight thinking they’re going to win, and they end up getting royally slaughtered.

Fighters that have never been beaten before are often their worst enemies because many of them believe they can walk on water and they go out fighting sloppy and wind up getting knocked out fast. I think Fury might be one of those fighters on Saturday night when he gets inside the ring with Klitschko.

“I’m not one bit nervous for this fight. I’m not anxious, I’m not excited – nothing. Why am I this confident? I don’t know. It’s like it’s just meant to be,” Fury said.

Poor Fury; he doesn’t even realize that he should be anxious for this fight. Maybe it is Wladimir’s friendly way about him that has Fury thinking that he’s not in a fight. Wladimir has been acting like a friendly host in dealing with Fury, and he’s been more like a promoter than a fighter. Wladimir doesn’t try and intimidate his opponents at this point in his career like he did early on. He tends to treat them nicely.

Since Fury is a real know it all, I think he’s going to learn the hard way on Saturday night how limited he is as a fighter. The good thing is that Fury will learn from this, and will maybe improve to come out of it a better fighter. Of course, if Fury is one of those fighters who are incapable of learning from their mistakes, then he’ll continue to repeat the same mistakes in future fights and will lose and again each time he steps it up against high caliber opposition.
