Sky Sports must approve Klitschko-Fury for November 28th

fury684By Scott Gilfoid: The news that the Tyson Fury vs. Wladimir Klitschko fight has been rescheduled for November 28th doesn’t mean much unless Sky Sports is able to approve the date for the fight.

Unless Sky Box Office has a date available for the Klitschko-Fury fight to go ahead on that date on their network, they might need to push it ahead to December, January or even February.

It all depends on what Sky Box Office has available. I know Fury is really excited about the fight with Klitschko being rescheduled, but that doesn’t mean anything.

It only means something if Sky Box Office has a date available for their fight at the ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany. By having two pay-per-view fights in back to back months with the Kell Brook vs. Diego Chaves fight on October 24th and then the Klitschko vs. Fury fight on November 28th, Sky Box Office is really asking a lot of the British boxing public to have to pay for these fights one after another. It’s not a good thing to see your household bills go up in consecutive months, especially when one of the fight cards [Brook vs. Chaves] isn’t that great.

If there’s nothing available with Sky Sports, then Wladimir and Fury will need to wait until Sky does have something available for their pay-per-view date. I mean, it would likely be easier to find a date if the fight wasn’t on PPV, but they want the boxing fans to pay to see their fight rather than seeing it on regular Sky.

I personally don’t see the Klitschko-Fury fight as being worthy enough for it to be on PPV, because it’s not a great fight, and the undercard is pretty disappointing to me to say the least. When Hughie Fury is the biggest name you’ve got on your undercard, then that kind of tells you what you’re dealing with as far as undercard entertainment goes.

“My injury will heal quickly enough for me to enter the ring on Nov. 28,” Klitschko said. “I will promptly continue my training camp preparations and, of course, I am very happy to still be fighting this year, especially for my fans who have already bought their tickets.”

Klitschko hurt his left calf muscle while training recently causing him to postpone the fight with Fury. They were originally supposed to fight each other on October 24th this month in Dusseldorf, Germany. But the injury made it necessary for Wladimir to put the fight off.

It’s pretty surprising that Wladimir’s calf injury healed this quickly because an injury like that can sometimes last for months and months before it finally heals.

If you take away the Sky Box Office cash for the Klitschko-Fury fight, it takes a big chunk of the cash flow from the fight.

Fury will be a wealthy man after he faces Klitschko. It doesn’t matter if Fury loses, he’s still going to wind up wealthy after this fight. It’s going to be interesting to see if the wealth impacts Fury’s career the way it seemingly has with David Haye.

After Haye got a big payday fight against Klitschko, he’s only fought once in the last four years since. Will Fury find it difficult to get back in the ring after he makes big cash against Klitschko? Carl Froch retired after getting two big paydays against George Groves?

Will Fury retire after he gets the big cash? I wouldn’t be in the least surprised. I could see Fury setting up a big hammock in his front parch of his house and just lying it in all day long drinking lemonade and having a fan on him to blow away the flies.

“Great news! Just heard from my promoter Hennessy Sports and Peter Fury, Klitschko has had the all clear to box November 28 in Dusseldorf,” Fury said on his Twitter today.

Fury seems as anxious as a little kid the morning before the Christmas packages are about to be opened. I wonder how Fury will take it if Sky Box Office nixes the idea of the fight taking place on November 28th.

I hope Fury doesn’t go into a depression over it. Sometimes people gain weight when they get depressed. Fury doesn’t need to put on any more blubber on his frame. Goodness knows, it’s taken him a while to burn off the flab that he put on after his fight against Christian Hammer.
