Image: Mayweather still blowing HUGE money on expensive carsBy Allan Fox: Earlier this week, Floyd Mayweather Jr. purchased a 2015 Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse for $3,498,000. I’ve lost track of how many of these vehicles Mayweather now owns, but according to ESPN, Mayweather has purchased four of these vehicles.

If they’re all of similar price, then we’re talking about vehicles worth $16 million. That’s not counting all the other money that Mayweather is spending from the money he’s made in the ring in the last few years.

Mayweather’s latest Bugatti reportedly can go as fast as 254 mph. I don’t see the value of a race car like that for the street. It’s not as if Mayweather will be able to legally drive the thing at 254 mph in his home city of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Unless Mayweather takes it to a race track, it would seem like there’s no point in him owning a vehicle that costly. We’re looking at a car that depreciates the moment that you drive it out of the showroom.

It’s too bad that Mayweather isn’t spending his money on things that will appreciate in value like real estate. With the huge money that Mayweather spent on his Bugatti collection, he could have purchased an expensive house in places like Atherton, California. Those houses go for huge money and they tend to go up in value over the years.

Mayweather could also purchase land with his money. It also goes without saying that he could have invested that money in stocks rather than dumping it on cars that will age, lose value and then likely be extremely difficult to sell for anything close to the money that Mayweather spent on them to begin with. Mayweather would be better off purchasing simple Mercedes and then trading them in each year for a new one rather than dumping huge money on cars like a Bugatti.

With the way that Mayweather is spending his money, it’s hard to picture him being able to hold onto his fortune for a long period of time. If Mayweather is going to keep purchasing Bugatti vehicles over and over, then how long do you think it will take before he’s going through his entire fortune? The money won’t last forever if Mayweather keeps purchasing $4 million cars over and over.

Even if Mayweather returns next year for a fight against Manny Pacquiao and another fighter to make big money, I can see a situation where he’ll eventually spend everything he makes if he keeps blowing huge amounts of money on automobiles. Mayweather should be thinking about sinking his money into thinks that will give him a good return for the money he’s spent like with real estate.
