Klitschko-Fury rescheduled for November 28th

furyBy Scott Gilfoid: Well, it looks like IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko’s injured left calf is now healed enough for him to resume training for his title defense against the loudmouthed #1 WBO challenger Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs).

According to Fury, the Klitschko fight is now back on and scheduled for November 28th at the ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany. Whether it actually takes place on that date remains to be seen. I mean, we are talking about pretty much almost two entire months before the fight takes place.

That’s a lifetime for a fighter as old as 39-year-old Wladimir. There’s plenty of time for him to suffer another injury either to the same left calf or to another body part. In other words, I wouldn’t count on Wladimir being in the ring until he’s actually there inside the ring apron ready to fight on November 28th or whatever date the fight winds up at.

“My injury will heal quickly enough for me to enter the ring on November 28. I will promptly continue my training camp preparations and, of course, I am very happy to still be fighting this year, especially for my fans who have already bought their tickets,” said Wladimir Klitschko.

Having injured my right calf recently while walking up a flight of stairs, I can’t believe that Wladimir has been able to make a miraculous recovery after just two weeks. Heck, my calf is still hurting now and it’s been almost two months. With the description of Wladimr’s left calf injury from his team, I would think his injury was worse than mind.

I don’t know how Wladimir was able to heal that fast. That’s just incredible. Fury himself thinks that Wladimir got the case of the nerves after he put on a big show dressed as Batman at their recent press conference in London. He thinks that Wladimir was just totally unnerved by the performance and by the things that he said about him.

I don’t know. At least Wladimir is back in training and ready to go for the fight. Like I said; I’m going to take a wait and see approach to Wladimir making it through training camp in one piece to make it to the new November 28th date. My spider sense tells me he’s going to suffer another injury along the way that will throw the date off into December or early 2016.

In the big scheme of things, it’s actually good for Fury that Wladimir suffered an injury. Fury has more time to train and more time to burn off that blubber that he has around his waist.

Fury looked fat when he started training camp for this fight, and I don’t think he’s still taken that weight off yet. Fury now has two solid months to burn off that lard that he’s put on his frame to get him down to a presentable weight of the mid 240s by November 28th.

If Wladimir gets hurt again and needs to postpone once or twice more, then it’s all good as far as Fury goes. He would be able to take off all the weight that he’s packed on, and come into the fight in the best shape of his life.

I think that’s the only way the supposedly 6’9” Fury has a chance of winning the fight. If Fury comes into the fight with a bunch of blubber around his waist, then I see Wladimir batting him around the ring like a baseball.

Heck, I see Wladimir doing that anyway regardless of the conditioning that Fury comes into. But at least this way he’s got a chance of maybe outworking the big Ukrainian by being in the best shape of his life.
