By Scott Gilfoid: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) wasn’t impressed with the clowning that Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs) did on Wednesday during their press conference in London, England. The 6’9” Fury made someone of a clown of himself by dressing up as Batman and then wrestling one of his friends or teammates, who was dressed as the Joker.

Fury showed no respect to Klitschko and said some particularly nasty things about the long-time champion. Klitschko says he’s going to teach the 27-year-old Fury a big lesson on October 24th, when they face each other at the ESPRIT Arena in Dusseldorf, Germany.

Klitschko believes that the beating that he’s going to be administering to Fury will teach him how to behave in the future and how to interact with his elders in a more respectful way. I think Wladimir’s treatment for Fury will, if nothing else, shut his yap temporarily until he finds someone that he thinks he can beat.

I doubt that Wladimir will be able to make any lasting changes to Fury’s personality. The guy seems to be pretty much set in his ways at this point in his life. The only thing that Wladimir will be able to do is rearrange his facial features, and shut him up for a few months while he licks his wounds from the battle.

“I think he’s [Fury] an insecure person inside,” Wladimir said to IFL TV. “He’s covering his insecurity. You cannot really judge people before the event and the action happens, because I’ve seen guys that were loud before and they couldn’t deliver anything in the ring. I’ve seen guys that were really quiet but were really dangerous during the fight. I think I can make Tyson Fury a better person, and he was actually visiting a doctor today and he got a certain treatment. The treatment will continue and I will turn him into a better person so he can learn to behave himself and how to treat his elders. I think the treatment will be done in the fight on the 24th of October, when we’re going to face each other. There’s only one way to conquer another boxer, and you’re doing it not with words, as it was done in the press conference. You do it with your fists. Some guys genuinely mean it [in trash talking], and some of the guys are acting, but on the 24th of October it will be a fight and it will be serious. It’s a serious business with serious consequences during the fight and after the fight,” Klitschko said.

The more Fury talks the more pay-per-view buys that the fight will generate on Sky Box Office. I’m not sure what Fury’s cut of the British PPV money will be, but if he gets decent 50-50 cut of the British money, then he would wind up with millions. I mean, I don’t think Fury will get the Carl Froch type money, but he’ll still get some good cash for the fight. But Fury might need to think of some other gimmicks he can use for the next month to get more boxing fans interested, because many of them see the fight as a mismatch.

Fury is a clear underdog, and the only way he can get the reluctant fans to want to shell out their hard-earned money to purchase the fight is if he boasts about his talent, and puts Wladimir down nonstop. Fury can’t afford to show Wladimir any respect in the run up to this fight, because he’s not getting the bigger gut of the revenue.

Heck, even in the rematch [if there is one], Fury won’t likely get as much money as Klitschko. I’m sure the money split has already been established for the rematch should Fury get lucky and defeat the 39-year-old Klitschko on October 24th.

Wladimir looks like he intends on giving Fury a real beating so that he can eat his words. Fury might have been just clowning around by calling Wladimir an old man and making fun of how he speaks, but I think he’s hit a nerve with the Ukrainian fighter by showing him no respect in front of the media, both in the UK and in Germany. Wladimir is going to want to take it out on Fury’s face when he gets him inside the ring and make an example of him.
