Enzo Maccarinelli back in action on October 10

Enzo Maccarinelli tops the bill when Warrior Promotions head back to Wales next month.

The ex-WBO cruiserweight boss will be matched at Newport Leisure Centre on Saturday, October 10.

Maccarinelli hopes victory will keep him on course for a rematch with Jurgen Braehmer.

Last April, an eye injury ruled Maccarinelli out of his challenge for the German’s WBA light-heavyweight title.

The Swansea puncher has boxed once since and took just 48 seconds to blast out Gyorgy Novak in Manchester in March, his 31st knock out win on his 39-7 record.

Also on the show, Mitch Buckland and Ally Black meet in a rematch for the vacant Celtic light-welterweight title.

Last month, Black was ruled out of their fight in Bournemouth in the fourth round with a shoulder injury.

Greg Steene, who set up Warrior Promotions with Mo Prior, admits the fight was in the balance until the Alex Morrison-managed Scot was injured.

He expects another hard-fought clash when the fighters meet again over 10 rounds, but is backing Buckland to extend his winning record and go on to emulate his big brother Gary, the ex-British super-featherweight champion.

Steene said: “We’re looking to take Mitch much further than the British title.

“He’s always been in Gary’s shadow, but is still young at 22 years old and has a great future in front of him.”

Steene and Prior snapped up Buckland after he shocked Craig Woodruff for the vacant Celtic lightweight title a couple of years ago.

“I was co-managing Craig,” said Steene, “and really rated him.

“We thought he would eat Mitch up, but the way he boxed that night convinced us he’s a real talent we want to work with.”

The undercard features Bradley Pryce, the ex-Commonwealth light-middleweight champion, all-action St Clears welterweight Dale Evans, James Todd, Darren Pryce, Kyle King and Alan Lamb.

Steene, remembered for steering Dennis Andries to the WBC light-heavyweight championship in the 1980s, added: “We haven’t put on a show in Wales for a couple of years and now we’re looking to establish ourselves there and build a stable of good fighters.”
