Ronda Rousey says she makes more money per second than Mayweather

rousey3By Jim Dower: After being dismissed by Floyd Mayweather Jr. recently when he told her to come look him up when she starts making $300 million per fight like he made against Manny Pacquiao, UFC woman’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has fired back with a comment about how she thinks she makes more money per second than Mayweather makes for his fights.

In overall pay, Mayweather likely makes more money than the 28-year-old Rousey, but her fights have been lasting only one round lately due to the lack of quality for her to fight. Rousey isn’t facing opposition with a massive amount of experience, and the result is she’s stopping them quickly in less than one round.

“[Floyd] said, ‘You make $300 million a night, then you can give me a call’ … and I actually did the math, and given the numbers of my last fight, I’m actually the highest-paid UFC fighter and I’m a woman,” she said via ESPN.com.

Rousey said recently that she felt that she could beat Mayweather in a no rules fight. The statement really didn’t mean much because MMA has rules, as does boxing. So there would be no way of proving what she said without them meeting in a place that would allow a no rules fight. There is no place that would allow such a fight like that.

“I think I actually make two to three times more than he does per second … so when he learns to read and write, he can text me,” she said via TMZ.com. “Yeah, I’m just more efficient.”

It is unknown how much Rousey makes for her fights in the UFC because the pay isn’t revealed.
Rousey recently won the ESPY award, and used the occasion to take a jab at Mayweather by saying that this was the first time he’d been beaten by a woman. It was retaliatory jab at Mayweather for him telling a reporter that he didn’t know who Rousey was when asked about her. She waited a year to get back at Mayweather with the comment.

“I wonder how Floyd feels being beat by a woman for once. I’d like to see him pretend to not know who I am now,” Rousey said.

There are some boxing and UFC fans who believe that Rousey would beat Mayweather in the octagon if he agreed to fight under the rules of MMA, but I think it would be very tough for her to do that unless there was some kind of handicap involved that would prevent Mayweather from being able to hit her from the outside.

The gloves in the UFC are just so thin with very little padding compared to the gloves boxers make, and Mayweather would obviously tag Rousey at will from the outside before she even had a chance to rush him to try and flip him to the canvas.

Rousey doesn’t use much finesse when she attacks her female opponents, and I don’t think she would be able to get close to Mayweather without taking right hands to the head many times and hard body shots. I doubt that Rousey is used to being hit hard to the body or the head like you see from a professional boxer like Mayweather.
