Pacquiao fires back at Mayweather over Instagram comment

pac009By Chris Williams: Former eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao finally came to life in response to his conqueror Floyd Mayweather Jr’s recent Instagram in which he slapped around a Pacquiao dummy, calling it a liar for the shoulder excuse that Pacquiao came up with after his loss to Mayweather last May.

Pacquiao failed to agree that he lost the fight to Mayweather, and he blamed his poor performance on a preexisting injury to his right shoulder that he failed to disclose before the fight on a medical questionnaire form.

“A real champion is gracious both in his words and conduct,” Pacquiao said to Philboxing.com. “Someone who is a champion not just in his chosen field of endeavor but even in his own home and private life.”

If Pacquiao wants a rematch with Mayweather, then he’s going about it all the wrong way. Pacquiao needs to be groveling right now, and complimenting Mayweather by saying all the right things if he wants a second fight.

You can make an argument that Pacquiao didn’t exactly come across as the gracious victim last May when he said repeatedly to Max Kellerman that he felt that he should have won the fight with Mayweather. When you’re beaten and the three judges have spoken, a gracious fighter will accept the will of the judges and acknowledge that the better man whipped him. We didn’t see that with Pacquiao though, as he said that he thought he won over and over again. Pacquiao then brought up the shoulder injury that he came into the fight with. Some boxing fans might take that as Pacquiao not being a gracious victim by seemingly pairing his defeat with his injured right shoulder.

“We should understand Floyd Mayweather Jr. because of his family background,” Pacquiao said. “He hailed from a family of ex-convicts and he himself is an ex-convict. We could not blame him because his action just showed the kind of family upbringing he had,” Pacquiao said.

Considering that Mayweather was just playing around with Pacquiao by calling him a liar when talking to the Pacquiao dummy on Instagram, Pacquiao is really going for the throat with some of his comments about Mayweather.

This is what Mayweather said on his Instagram to Pacquiao:

“So, Manny, you out telling people that I didn’t win fair and square, that this little arm is messed up. Is that right? Huh? Talk to me! Stop lying!”

It seems pretty harmless stuff. It’s not like he’s talking about Pacquiao’s past and downgrading his upbringing. Mayweather pretty much is just talking about Pacquiao, his shoulder excuse and then telling him to “stop lying” to the people.

“I still respect him as God’s creation and I won’t resort to such kind of a low blow just to get his attention,” Pacquiao said. “It only reminds me of what he did to his ex-wife. I hope he would find time to reflect on his life and repent for the sins he committed in the past.”

Pacquiao says he “won’t resort to such kind of a low blow,” but if you read what he said, it appears that he did go after Mayweather in a big way. What happened to the old turn the other cheek bit when someone takes a shot at you?
