fury56789By Scott Gilfoid: After giving IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (64-3, 53 KOs) a verbal thrashing earlier today in front of the German media, unbeaten British heavyweight Tyson Fury (24-0, 18 KOs) said that the 39-year-old Wladimir, who sees as a graying, wrinkled old man, is going to hate him after he loses.

Fury says he knows it’s going to be like this. However, if Fury keeps making Wladimir look bad like he did today during the kickoff press conference in Germany, Wladimir might hate him even before they get inside the ring.

“It was all down to me to entertain the German crowd today, and I believe I shredded him when it came to talking” Fury said to IFL TV. “Wladimir is going to hate me after this fight after I knock him out; there’s no nice feelings in that. To him it may be a sport. To me, it’s personal. He is coming to the end of his career, and I’m the man to beat him.”

Fury might end up hating Wladimir if he gets walloped and left on the canvas in a heap. Wladimir has huge punching power, and we’ve already see Fury get dropped before during his career by lesser fighters. Hopefully, Fury doesn’t hold it against Wladimir for whipping him, because it would be bad for Fury to hold onto that hate like that. All that negative energy might pollute his career and turn things upside down.

Fury thinks that there’s a good chance that the 6’6” Klitschko will pull out of the fight before they get a chance to face each other. Fury figures that if Wladimir is having a bad training camp, he’ll opt to pull out of the fight and postpone it for later. Wladimir pulled out of fights twice for his Dereck Chisora fight, which never took place.

Wladimir also postponed his fight against Kubrat Pulev due to an injury he suffered during training camp. Chisora wasn’t too happy to have wasted time training for a fight that never took place against Wladimir. Chisora later spit in Wladimir’s face with a mouth full of water before his fight against his brother Vitali Klitschko in 2012.

“If the fight really takes place; why am I saying that, because these idiots automatically get injured, don’t they? When things aren’t going right in training camp, they pull out,” Fury said. “Don’t be surprised if he pulls out and wants and reschedule and all that [expletive]. This fight ain’t on until we’re trading punches. I believe that.”

It’s possible that Wladimir could get injured during training camp and may need to postpone the fight. It’s something that definitely could happen. After all, we are talking about a guy that is basically 40-years-old. Guys that age get injured frequently because it’s a young man’s sport.

You rarely see guys still fighting at 39, and when you do it’s mostly guys that have no other options in terms of finding another line of work. They continue to fight because they need the pay check. Wladimir is already incredibly wealthy and doesn’t need to continue fighting if he doesn’t want. He seems to be sticking around more for the sake of him wanting to break records and to see how long he can continue. The fact that Wladimir just extended his contract with the German TV network RTL suggests that Wladimir feels he’s got a good chance of winning his next five fights.
