By Dan Ambrose: Former two division world champion Robert Guerrero (32-3-1, 18 KOs) made weight on Friday for his 10 round stay busy fight against Aaron Martinez (19-3-1, 4 KOs) on NBC on Premier Boxing Champions from the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Guerrero, who has lost two out of his last three fights, came in at 145.6 pounds. The 33-year-old Martinez has also lost two out of his last three fights. He weighed in at 146.6 pounds.

Guerrero looked in great shape as usual. Guerrero needs a win here to stay up with the other top contenders in the division so that he can get another world fight. Guerrero says he’d like to face Adrien Broner, but he realizes that he has a really tough fight against Shawn Porter later this month on June 20th.

WBA World featherweight champion Jesus Marcelo Andres Cuellar (26-1, 20 KOs) weighed in at 125.8 pounds for his title defense against 39-year-old former two division world champion Vic Darchinyan (40-7-1, 29 KOs). For his part, Darchinyan weighed in at 125.4 pounds.

Darchinyan’s career has hit a rough patch with him losing 2 out of his last 3 fights to Nicholas Walters and Nonito Donaire. You can’t blame Darchinyan too much for losing to both of those fighters because he had to move up to featherweight in order to take those fights, and Darchinyan’s best weights for his career was when he fought at flyweight and super flyweight. Darchinyan’s career hasn’t been the same since he moved out of the super flyweight division in 2010. If he’d stayed in that division, he’d have found a lot more success in the last five years than he has at bantamweight, super bantamweight and featherweight.

Former world title challenger Alfredo Angulo (22-5, 18 KOs) weighed in at 162.2 pounds for his bout at middleweight against journeyman Delray Raines (19-10-1, 14 KOs) in a 10 round bout. Angulo has lost his last three fights in defeats to James De la Rosa, Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Erislandy Lara. Raines weighed in at 160 pounds. He’s lost three out of his last five fights.

Angulo really needs to get some wins and badly. He struggled with weight for his recent fight against Canelo, and it was one of the worst performances of Angulo’s career.

Featherweight contender Marvin Sonsona (19-1-1, 15 KOs) weighed in at 127.6 pounds for his 10 round bout against Jonathan Arrellano (15-5-2, 5 KOs). Arrellano weighed in 128 pounds.

The 27-year-old Arrellano has lost 3 out of his last 4 fights. He lost his last fight against Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. by an 8 round majority decision last November.

Sonsona has won his last six fights since his 4th round knockout loss to Vazquez Jr. in 2010. Sonsona avenged the loss to Vazquez last year in June in beating him by a controversial 10 round split decision.
