Lucas Browne says Deontay Wilder has no chin

1-DEONTAY WILDER VICTORY-06132015-5328By Scott Gilfoid: #6 WBC Lucas Browne (22-0, 19 KOs) appears to be barking up the wrong street in heavily pursuing a fight against KO artist Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33 KOs) for his September 26th title defense of his WBC heavyweight title.

Browne is started trash talking the talented 6’7” Wilder something fierce and it looks like the 36-year-old Australian really fancies his chances against him. Browne has nothing on his resume that would suggest that he can compete with a guy with the kind of punching power and athleticism that Wilder has going for him. Browne struggled in the past to beat Andriy Rudenko by a 12 round decision in August of last year, a fighter that Huey Fury easily beat recently by a lopsided 10 round decision last February.

“You’ve got some power, don’t get me wrong. You’re a tall and skinny b****** with chicken legs,” Browne said via Skysports.com. “That’s unreal. You’ve got some power but your chin is nothing whatsoever.”

Wilder was momentarily stunned by a left hook that he wasn’t expecting in his last fight against Eric Molina, but other than one shot, Wilder had no problems taking the huge power of Molina for the remainder of the bout. Wilder just didn’t look like he was expecting Molina to have that kind of power with his left hand, because most of the video out there on Molina mainly shows him to be dangerous with his right hand rather than his left. As such, Wilder clearly wasn’t expecting to get nailed by a crushing left hook to the head. That shot would have knocked out many heavyweights in the top 15, but to his credit, Wilder took it well and was able to continue fighting back like a warrior.

“You’ve got a well-padded record and your promotional team have done really well,” Browne said. “I’m a puncher. I hit like a mule and I know for a fact that if I hit you on the chin, you’re going to sleep. I’ve got a good chin and I can take your shots all day. Your left hook, your straight right. That’s all you’ve got – over and over again. I’ll take it. Then I’ll punish the body, then I’ll take your head off your shoulders.”

Man, Browne is begging to taste Wilder’s power. I don’t believe for a second that Browne can take Wilder’s power. I saw Browne in trouble against little known Eric Martel Bahoeli their fight in April of 2014, and Browne was lucky get out of the fight with a win. If a guy like Bahoeli was able to give Browne all kinds of problems, then it stands to reason that Wilder will do even more to him.

I don’t think Browne should invite Wilder to hit him with right hands or even his left hook, because Browne is not super human. I mean, can punch really hard, but his ability to take a heavy shots is no better than Wilder’s in my view. The only guy that Browne has faced with any kind of power is Bahoeli, and he had him in all kinds of problems. That was a tough fight. Even Andriy Rudenko had Browne looking bloodied and battered.
