Floyd Sr: I don’t want Khan to get a payday against my son

Floyd Mayweather SrBy Scott Gilfoid: It looks like Amir Khan’s constant trash talking about Floyd Mayweather Jr. has resulted in Floyd’s father Floyd Mayweather Sr. in not wanting to ever let the British fighter get a shot sat fighting Mayweather. Floyd Sr. says that he doesn’t want Khan to get the payday against son.

For whatever reason, Floyd Sr. doesn’t think Khan rates a payday. Floyd Sr. says he’ll whip Khan himself.

It’s widely known that Floyd Sr. and Khan had words this week, and it seems to have angered Floyd Sr. enough to where he doesn’t want to let Khan get that nice payday money that he’d get in a fight against Mayweather.

“I don’t want him [Khan] to get a payday against my son,” Floyd Sr. said to Fighthub. “He’s a [expletive]. Give me enough time to get in shape. I’ll beat the [expletive] out of him as well and stop him. I’ll make sure he’s stopped.”

There it is. Floyd Sr. saying no payday for Khan. Ouch, that’s got to hurt Khan in the worst way, because he’s been asking for a fight against Mayweather for ages now. If Floyd Sr. has any persuasive power over his son, then it looks like Khan won’t be getting that nice cash out payday against Mayweather. The 28-year-old Khan has said in the past that he wants to retire by the time he hits 30. That’s only two years away.

A fight against Mayweather would have been the perfect golden parachute for Khan to help feather his retirement nest. It wouldn’t matter if Khan got put out of his misery by other fighters after Mayweather beat him, he’d still have all that cash from the Mayweather fight to live off of for the remainder of his life. Floyd Sr. doesn’t look like he’s going to let Khan get the retirement check.

Without the money that Khan has been counting on getting against Mayweather, he’ll have to look to get the next best thing in a fight against IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook. I’m not sure how much money a fight against Brook would get Khan, but he needs to think about scooping that money up quick. Khan’s recent fight against Chris Algieri showed that he’s going to get beaten again by someone sooner or later. Once Khan gets another loss, it’s going to hurt his money making potential in a fight against Brook. As bad as Khan looked against Algieri, he should be looking to make the Brook fight next.

Khan is waiting around right now to see if Mayweather picks him out for his September fight. Once he finds out what Mayweather’s intentions are for his September fight, then Khan can look to make a move with his career. However, it’s not looking good for Khan right now. First there’s Floyd Sr. who doesn’t want Khan to get the payday against his son, and then there’s Mayweather saying this week that he’s “not trying to con nobody”, when asked if he would be fighting Khan next in September. I don’t know about you, but I don’t see that as a positive sign that Mayweather will be looking to fight Khan next. If anything, that’s about as big a hint that you can get that Mayweather won’t be fighting Khan next.

I’m just wondering how Khan will take the bad news of Mayweather choosing someone else to fight in September instead of him. I mean, I hope Khan has a good support system when he gets the news because it’s likely to be a hard blow for him to take. Khan has been blabbering left and right for ages about how he wants to fight Mayweather, and how “styles make fights” and how it’s important to get an opponent at the right point in their careers.
