froch111By Demetrius Luke: Carl Froch is no doubt one of the biggest names in British boxing over the past decade, facing all the top fighters of his generation since being at the elite level and winning numerous world championships over the years.

”The Cobra” as he refers himself is now at a situation where he either calls it a day on his wonderful action packed career and he enjoys his lovely family knowing he has financially set himself and them up for life or he can lace the gloves up one more time and take on the biggest rising star in boxing today taking a huge risk.

I am talking WBA (super) middleweight champion Gennady ”Triple G” Golovkin who is known for his exciting powerful style of fighting, blowing his past 20 opponents out inside the distance setting a record. Golovkin is described as the most exciting rising star in boxing today in and out the ring with his fun persona and his bad reputation in it. Golovkin is no doubt considered the best 160 pound middleweight today and sooner or later a move up to super middleweight will be needed for him to get bigger fights, bigger pay days and to build a hall of fame legacy in the sport.

Golovkin and his team have said plenty of times over recent times that they would instantly take the offer up to move in weight to 168 pounds to fight Carl Froch in the UK and it now seems to be that Froch is seriously considering taking the fight. Froch does not need to take this fight due to his legacy being cemented already, he has won four world championships, beaten everyone in his path except for Andre Ward which is no shame as Ward is still undefeated and deservably seen as the most talented super middleweight in the world. Froch also was part of the biggest fight in British boxing history a year ago against George Groves in their rematch which filled out Wembley Stadium in front of 80 thousand fans and Froch ended it with a clinical knock out.

Froch has a lovely partner and kids which he is enjoying now and he can retire now to enjoy that and no one would really blame him, but the idea of fighting the biggest prospect in boxing today who many would like to see tested against an elite fighter gives him the fire to get back in there once more, he is set to make an announcement this week on his future which will be either retirement or a last hurrah with Gennady Golovkin which would be one of the most exciting fights in recent times.
