bradley555555By Dan Ambrose: WBO interim welterweight champion Tim Bradley (32-1-1, 12 KOs) says he’ll face WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) next if that’s a fight that his team wants. Bradley, 31, says he’s not the one who makes the decision for his fights.

It’s a team effort involving his trainer Joel Diaz, his father, and of course his promoter Bob Arum. It’s unclear what Diaz and his father want for Bradley next, but it’s clear that Arum is very interested in Bradley facing Golovkin this year in September because he feels that it’s a fight that could be shown on pay-per-view.

It would be a fight that would attract a lot of interest due to the popularity of Golovkin.

“Everyone thinks I’m crazy for calling out Golovkin,” Bradley said at the post-fight press conference last night. “If my team wants it, I’ll do it. I don’t make the ultimate decision. I’m crazy. I’ll call out [Wladimir] Klitschko too. I think I can go more than six rounds. I just have to avoid that right hand and move around. Don’t stand with him in one spot.”

Bradley would be in a win-win situation if he were to take on Golovkin, because he’ get a good paycheck, and no one would hold it against him if he were to lose the fight. Bradley would be moving up in weight two divisions to fight at middleweight, and would be giving away a lot in terms of height, reach, size and punching power. The only thing that you’d have to worry about with Bradley is that he could get seriously hurt by Golovkin. Unless his trainer threw in the towel at some point to save Bradley from taking punishment, he’d likely be knocked out fairly quickly.

Bradley would very likely use movement to keep away from Golovkin as much as possible. Bradley’s description of how he’d fight Wladimir Klitschko would likely apply to how he’d fight Golovkin. He’d stay on the move and look to land shots here and there to try and win rounds.

Other than Golovkin, Bradley said he doesn’t have anyone in mind for his next fight. He doesn’t like calling out fighters. He just wants to fight the top guys at 147 and 154. However, he’s not going to be able to fight guys like Amir Khan, Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia, and Shawn Porter because they work with Al Haymon. But Bradley would have no problems facing Kell Brook. Bradley says he’d like to fight the top junior middleweights. He’s named Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Miguel Cotto as two guys he’d like to face.
