Pacquiao: I reviewed the fight, I think I won by 2 points

pac746By Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao says he sat down and watched a replay of his fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and he says he thinks he should have won by the fight by two points. Unfortunately for Pacquiao, he wasn’t one of the three judges that scored the fight on May 2nd, because they scored it 116-112, 118-110 and 116-112.

I personally scored the fight 118-110 for Mayweather. 116-112 way too close for the way Mayweather dominated the action. The thing is Mayweather was in 1st gear for most of the fight, and not really putting much effort into it.

Pacquiao’s clumsy mistakes made it an incredibly easy fight for Mayweather to win, much easier than his two fights against Marcos Maidana.

“I reviewed the fight and kept score. I won by two points, but a decision has been made and we have to accept it,” Pacquiao said via nst.com. “I (would) like that [a rematch with Mayweather]. I want that. But my focus right now is my shoulder, my work as a congressman and my family.”

I think Pacquiao first needs to come to terms with the fact that he lost the fight to Mayweather. Pacquiao needs to sit down, have a strong cup of coffee, and sit back and watch his fight against Mayweather again so that he can realize things didn’t go well for him. It wasn’t just the three judges that had Pacquiao losing the fight, massive amounts of other people saw the 36-year-old Filipino star lose as well.

As far as I can tell, only a group of fans on the fringes thought Pacquiao won the fight, and they’ve obviously been drowned out by fans that felt that he was totally schooled by Mayweather. Pacquiao just didn’t have a good game plan for the fight, and once it was clear that he didn’t have the stomach to bum rush Mayweather for 12 rounds, the fight become totally one-sided.

Mayweather isn’t interested in fighting Pacquiao a second time because he sees him as sore loser because he can’t admit that he lost the fight. Mayweather doesn’t buy into Pacquiao’s shoulder injury excuse as the reason why he lost the fight, and he thinks the guy simply didn’t have the talent to compete with him. The problem with Mayweather taking on Pacquiao again is that even if Mayweather beat him again, there’s a chance that Pacquiao wouldn’t admit that was beaten. It then could turn into a sad scene of Mayweather beating Pacquiao again and again with Pacquiao insisting each time that he felt he won the fight.

It would be forlorn. I think Mayweather wants to avoid that kind of situation by cutting Pacquiao off with just one fight. While growing up, I’ve seen some people get whipped on the play grounds, and they would keep getting up and saying that they hadn’t been whipped. They’d then get dropped again, and the process would continue until it was just a sad joke. I think Mayweather stands to gain nothing by fighting Pacquiao again because I believe Pacquiao would never admit that he was beaten.
