By Dan Ambrose: Tim Bradley thinks Floyd Mayweather Jr. won’t get any credit for beating Manny Pacquiao until he faces him again and knocks him out like Juan Manuel Marquez did in their fight in 2012.
Short of that, Bradley doesn’t see Mayweather getting credit from fans. Bradley says he’d like to see a rematch between Mayweather and Pacquiao, unlike a lot of boxing fans, because he felt their fight on May 2nd of this month was an interesting one.
Bradley liked seeing Mayweather show off his technical skills in reducing Pacquiao’s offensive skills.
“The fight was exciting for me because he [Mayweather] was doing exactly what I should have been doing in the fight with Manny Pacquiao,” Bradley said to Fighthub. “Floyd ain’t going to sit there and trade with this guy. He’s got the best offense in boxing. You can’t stand there and trade with this guy. Floyd won’t get any respect for beating Pacquiao unless he flattens him like Marquez did,” Bradley said.
If Mayweather and Pacquiao fight each other again, it’s going to be on both of them to try and give the paying fans their money’s worth. They’re going to want to see nonstop action, and it’s not clear whether Mayweather-Pacquiao can supply that.
Fans are going to be wary of purchasing the fight a second time because they might not trust Pacquiao. If he wasn’t able to reveal a serious injury like a shoulder problem to the Nevada State Athletic Commission until the night of the fight, then there are some fans who will mistrust him in a rematch.
“Not giving Floyd his credit him is bull-[expletive],” Bradley said. “If the injury is legit fine, but making excuses after the fight…”
Bradley was disgusted with the injury excuse that Pacquiao gave after his fight when he revealed that he had come into the fight with a shoulder injury. Bradley feels that Pacquiao should have kept his mouth shut about being hurt before the fight, because it just made Pacquiao seem like someone who couldn’t admit that he was beaten by the better man in Mayweather.
Bradley went on to say that he was injured in both of his fights against Pacquiao, and that he didn’t go making excuses afterwards in looking to excuse away his performances.
If Pacquiao fights aggressively in the rematch with Mayweather, then we could very well see Pacquiao getting knocked out. He was taking some good shots in their fight, and that caused Pacquiao to back off. If he doesn’t back off in a rematch then it could be bad for Pacquiao.
