1-MAYPAC WEIGH IN-TRAPPFOTOS-3981By Bill Gabay: And all of a sudden the fight is between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao for their fight tonight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Fight of the Century.

No. 1 [Mayweather] against No. 2 pound-for-pound [Pacquiao]in the world. A unification title match at welterweight. The winner to be crowned the best boxer of his generation. The best offence against the best defense.

For 5-6 years, matchmakers have tried to make the fight happen between Mayweather and Pacquiao, but for different reasons (purse split, drug testing, etc.) negotiations consistently bogged down.

Fast-forward to 2015. An NBA game on January 27th where the two megastars were in attendance. Some say it was a chance meeting. Insiders (and now the public) know it was the result of strategic steps (and a great way to start marketing the fight).

Most everyone has their predictions including those within the boxing industry as well as celebrities all around the world. But no one really knows how the fight is going to go and how it will end. It could be the most thrilling display of pugilistic action featuring dynamic offense vs. defensive superiority. Or it could be a ho-hum fight with one fighter chasing the other all night.

If you honestly believe Mayweather will completely dominate Pacquiao, you should take a moment and watch how the Pacman outclassed previously undefeated Timothy Bradley. Twice, actually, although their first fight resulted in one of the greatest unsolved mysteries (and disappointments) in sports history.

Pacquiao beat the fast and well-conditioned American fighter. He beat him once and he beat him again.

On the other side of that ring, if for a second you believe Pacquiao will overwhelm the man called Money, it would be in your best interest to watch the Mayweather – Saul “Canelo” Alvarez fight. Canelo (who will be fighting James Kirkland on May 9th), is a solid fighter and touted as the next boxing superstar. A couple of years ago, Canelo looked like he was ready to take over the boxing world but his ascent was hindered by the undefeated Mayweather. Floyd put Canelo in his place – not just yet, boy – and revealed the truth in terms of the levels between them.

Yes, you can argue that Mayweather is not Bradley and Pacquiao is nit Canelo. But the point here is this: Pacquiao and Mayweather are both extremely good at what they do and in their individual styles. It’s very difficult to predict the outcome of tomorrow’s big fight. We can only hope it will be an exciting action-packed sports affair worth that PPV price tag.

Nevertheless what is your prediction?

Mayweather by unanimous decision Or Pacquiao by TKO in rounds 10 or 11.

Let’s hear your fearless forecast.
