1-MAYPAC-FIGHTNIGHT-TRAPPFOTOS-9618By Chris Williams: After listening to Manny Pacquiao complain about how he should have won the fight last Saturday, and how he supposedly was injured before the two of them stepped inside the ring, Floyd Mayweather Jr. says he’s changed his mind about wanting to give the Filipino star a rematch next year.

Mayweather says that Pacquiao is a sore loser, and can’t admit that that he was beaten by a better fighter.

Mayweather says he did tell ESPN’s Stephan A. Smith that he was give Pacquiao a rematch, but now he’s changed his mind about wanting to give him another chance after seeing what a poor sport he is.

“Did I text Stephen A. Smith and say I will fight him again? Yeah, but I change my mind,” said Mayweather to Showtime’s Jim Gray. “At this particular time, no, because he’s a sore loser and he’s a coward. If you lost, accept the loss and say, ‘Mayweather, you were the better fighter.’”

Wow, Mayweather saying no rematch for Pacquiao and calling him a “sore loser” and a “coward.”

This is really bad news for Pacquiao, his trainer Freddie Roach and promoter Bob Arum. All of them really want the rematch with Mayweather in the worst way. I’m not sure if they honestly believe that they can beat him, but the rematch none the less. The green stuff that they would get for a second fight against Mayweather would obviously be good.

It probably won’t be nearly as much as the cash that they got last time because a lot of boxing fans are permanently turned off towards seeing Mayweather and Pacquiao fight each other again for various reasons, starting with Pacquiao’s injury excuse. But if Pacquiao, Arum and Roach can’t get a second shot at Mayweather, then they won’t have the chance to redeem themselves, and course, there won’t be that sweet cash to be made again. They’d have to be satisfied with that one big payday they got against Mayweather.

What’s sad about Pacquiao, besides him coming up with an injury excuse to explain away his loss, was that he didn’t show the kind of heart that I saw from Marcos Maidana, Mayweather’s previous opponent. Maidana really put a lot of pressure on Mayweather and turned their two fights into barnburners.

Maidana went all out in both fights trying to get the victory, and he showed a ton of guts in there with Mayweather. With the hype that Pacquiao had going for him, you would think that he could give an even better performance against Mayweather than Maidana, but he didn’t. Maidana a lot better than Pacquiao against Mayweather, and that makes you question Pacquiao’s talent and his heart.
