pacBy Chris Williams: Showtime commentator Paulie Malignaggi is one of the many people who believe that Manny Pacquiao faked his shoulder injury in his “Fight of the Century” against Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2nd in order to get the heat off of him from his 12 round decision loss to the American star.

Malignaggi thinks that Pacquiao initially came up with the “I thought I won the fight” line, but once he saw that it wasn’t going over too well with people, Pacquiao changed his tactics to him saying that he had a shoulder injury.

Whatever the case, Malignaggi doesn’t believe that Pacquiao was injured. Malignaggi says that if Pacquiao a real shoulder injury, he would have hesitated while attacking Mayweather, and would have shown signs that there was something wrong with his shoulder. Maligiaggi didn’t see that. He felt that Pacquiao fought like he always does in attacking Mayweather.

“At first he [Pacquiao] tried to say he won the fight. He didn’t even mention an injury,” Malignaggi said to Fighthype. “He then gets out of the ring and must have seen how ridiculous that he must have sounded that he thought he had won the fight, so he comes up with another excuse on the fly. So he went from ‘I thought I won the fight’ to the crazy injury that he’d injured his shoulder.”

Malignaggi feels that Pacquiao made what he felt was an already boring fight much worse by dirtying up the results by saying that he came into the fight with a bad shoulder injury. Malignaggi feels that Pacquiao should have just kept quiet after the fight, and taken the big check for the fight and went home to the Philippines with it rather than sticking around long enough to take about him being injured.

There are a number of fans who believe that Pacquiao faked the shoulder injury because he didn’t want to look bad in front of his fans with him being beaten so soundly by Mayweather. They think that Pacquiao cooked up the excuse so that he wouldn’t take the criticism from his fans for having failed to beat Mayweather after all these years.

“For me it’s disgusting,” Malignaggi said. “You’re [Pacquiao] still bringing negative attention to the fight. Just go home, go back to the Philippines, go hang out with your family, get a big check. That’s it. For the first time in your life stop being such a narcissistic [expletive].”

Wow, Malignaggi really unloaded on Pacquiao by saying he faked an injury.
