Does anybody still believe Pacquiao can beat Mayweather?

1-IMG_6355By Babatis Banda: Looks like the twist and turns between these two boxers will never end. Floyd Mayweather Jr. initially had agreed to give Manny Pacquiao another go at him when he is fully recovered. It is a sad thing that Pacquiao had to go into the biggest fight of his career with an injury and dating back to 2008 according to Roach.

What is baffling though is that Pacquiao never showed any signs of discomfort during that fight with Floyd. Worse, Pacquiao and his team failed to disclose the injury prior to the fight and to me it indicates that he was fit and able to fight in that condition.

I suspect the injury only got worse during the fight. If what Roach says is true, then Pacquiao has fought and won with that injury many times before.

Whatever is the case, does anyone still believe Pacquiao can defeat Mayweather? I am sure the betting odds would be interesting to look at after the first fight. In my view, Pacquiao could never have beaten Mayweather at any time of his career. Mayweather is just too strong, too big and just as fast for Pacquiao. The biggest difference is that Floyd is too ring intelligent than Pacquiao, a typical brawler. If Pacquiao chooses to box Floyd, the result is clear.

If Pacquiao chooses to brawl with Floyd, he would be neutralized, like we saw and then popped up all night. In fact, Floyd is just too cautious, if he takes the game to Pacquiao like he did some moments of that fight, he can actually take out Pacquiao or he can actually take a knee like Mayweather Senior said before the fight.

It is all done and dusted. It is clear Pacquiao has no chance beating Floyd. Hoping against hope is hopeless in this case. Pacquiao has done his part in this sport, just like Floyd has acknowledged, and he can still hung-up the leathers with his head high. For Floyd, he has done all what flesh and blood can do. He has mastered the art of boxing like no other. He is a great in my eyes and those that choose not to recognize him have a right not to if they so wish, but nothing changes the truth. The truth is a sure constant.

For Pacquiao fans, yeah….it’s been a good run while it lasted but the reality is that Mayweather is clearly a class above Pacquiao. For Floyd’s fans, it’s been great loving such a talent and we will miss Floyd when he retires. We have been blessed to witness greatness in our era that will surely go down the boxing history.

It’s not the will of man to place Floyd among the greats of any era but it is the demand of the truth and the demands of reality that ultimately does it in the not so far away future.
